Other than India he conducts many retreats in Europe, to families in France, Switzerland, Austria and Germany. Simultaneously during these years, he has also developed many Eucharistic adoration centres in these places where Perpetual Adoration is going on now.

My Northeast Experience

I wake up at 2:15 am wondering which North East State I’m in, only to realize that I no longer recognize my own bed anymore. The past 25days have been days of blessings and grace, days which I can never forget working for the lord, I have been collecting way too many unforgettable memories now, and now currently I feel that this North east trip was the best 25 days of my life but I still know that the best is yet to come as the Lord's Love is new every morning.

Below is my North East India Visit experience. I was blessed to travel along with Antony (JY National Coordinator) and Immanuel (JY National Asst. Coordinator) on their North East visit.

From Diphu (Assam) where we had a 3 day retreat for 150 youth, to Shillong (Meghalaya) for the North East Leaders Gathering to Agartala (Tripura) to Guwahati (Assam), to Maram (Manipur), to Jakama, Pasama and Kohima where we had the 2 day Leaders gathering followed by the reconstitution of the Nagaland team and then to Dimapur (Nagaland) to Tamalpur and Bongaigoan (Assam) and then to Calcutta (West Bengal) and then finally back to home sweet home. As we met all the JY’s there, the priest and religious supporting the movement the Lord reminded us while we prayed through a message from John 4 which states ‘I sent you to reap that for which you did not labor; others have labored, and you have entered in their labor’. We thanked God that we were able to see the beauty of the movement here because of the sacrifices all the previous JY’s have made to ensure we have so many committed JY’s here ready to work for the Lord and we were now seeing the fruits of their prayers and sacrifices. May God Bless all of them abundantly and specially our previous National coordinator and Asst. coordinator. We were also blessed to meet and speak with the ArchBishop of Guwahati, Bishop of Bongaigoan and Bishop of Agartala.

Looking back I see the abundant blessings the Lord has bestowed upon me. I see how he has been transforming my life and helping me come closer to Him. These days were days of joy and happiness. Days where the Lord was so obviously moving with us and through us, days of amazement where we were lost with Him and His work that nothing mattered, not our tiredness, nor the lack of sleep, nor the long winding and bad bumpy roads because he provided us with His strength. The places here are beautiful where I once again stood in awe at the Lord’s creation and fell in love with the people here who are so simple and down to earth.

I was ready for the worst and had totally surrendered myself to the Lord preparing for the worst but the Lord was so gracious that I witnessed so many miracles in my own life during the trip.

I usually suffer from cold, cough, throat trouble and fever and an eye infection whenever I travel as I very easily pick up infections from the train and the place I used to visit in AP. Doctor’s advised to either not travel or take tablets recently to build my immunity. I carried the tablets along but never took them. For the first time in the past 2 years of my travelling I had not fallen sick it was a miracle indeed.
After me twisting my leg nearly a year back my leg usually swells up while travelling by bus or walking too much this time there was very slight swelling only at times even though this trip was full time travelling.
From the past 3 months am suffering from indigestion problem and would feel uneasy after eating but all these days the problem never surfaced.
I have a weak back getting old you see, but even after travelling on the long winding and pathetic roads of the North east I had no sign of back pain.
I could never sleep before if I was in a new place or at times if I was very tired and mom would say that good sleep is a blessing which I thought I did not have, but this time I just had to find the bed and I would be off to sleep and even without an alarm He would wake me up by 4:30-5:00am.

These were the physical healings I had received while working for him and surrendering my life for Him. Apart from this I seen how beautifully he was using me to speak for His Glory too, am not a preacher but the few sessions that I took and the adoration that I led, I witnessed his power so marvelously. More importantly I felt His presence with me all the time and an un-understandable joy which is the fruit of the Holy Spirit always with me. He has helped me fall in love with people I do not even know and helped me share a beautiful relationship with them. I never missed home or got home sick I loved the hectic schedule and I loved the time of intercession in front of the Blessed Sacrament and why not that's a gift that he had given me a few years back "the gift to intercede" to me who was someone who could never pray before or say a spontaneous prayer.

Indeed this had to be the best days of my life where I felt the Holy Spirit work so marvelously through the insignificant me. I now understand what St Paul said it's no more me but Christ who lives in me. I seem to keep falling in Love with him over and over again and 'Am loving it'.

Two Days Mission to Tuni, Vizag

We started from Hyd on 26^th around 4.00pm and reached Vizag early hours, just on time for mass. Soon after mass, we had breakfast with the Pakyaroapet parish priest, Fr. Arogyam and five other nuns who live at Canoska convent. It was our please to meet such humble and down to earth people.

Since our visit to Vizag was uncertain due to band in Hyd and the Rail Roko issue, we had not planned much, but, can anyone beat the Lord’s plan, certainly not. When Sr. Carmel, Pinto and I sat down for some time of prayer, sister clearly got a message that the Lord is gonna plan this mission visit for us. He will lead us by His Holy Spirit. By the end of day two, the message that sister got was so true, every experience that we had during this visit was planned by God.

Soon after prayer, Pinto and I spent an hour with three young girls who were living in that convent. It was so wonderful to see these young girls filled with love of the Lord and their zeal to serve the Lord all their life. After some time of sharing with these girls, we headed towards the church to meet Fr. Arogyam once again. We spent couple of hours with father sharing about Jesus Youth and getting to know a little about St. Francis of Assisi (father belongs to this congregation). After delicious lunch at father’s place, Fr. Arogyam invited us to be part of one of the prayer gathering that was happening in close by community. Around 5 to 6 families gather for payer where Pinto lead P&W and also shared word of God. Soon after the beautiful sharing, we happened to visit one of the families there. It was our honor to spend some time with Mary and Martha (two sisters) and are living testimony.

After the house visit, we gathered in the church once again to meet the youth of that parish. Around 15 to 16 energetic youth gathered together. This is a pretty new youth group which was meeting for the second time in the church, but, full of energy. We spent close to about 2 hours getting to know them, some time of action songs, sharing word of God and about Jesus Youth. All the youth were so excited and took a commitment to build the youth of that parish. We decided to meet the families of these youth the next day and called it a day.

The next day began with Holy mass in the church and then Pinto and I set off for house visits after breakfast and some time of prayer with Sr. Carmel. We visited six families and were delighted to hear some of the testimonies. People in this village find great joy in every small blessing of God which we at times take it for granted. Such humble people, full of faith and fear of the Lord. Sudhir from Vizag joined us while we were visiting the families. Two boys from the youth, who never prayer openly all their lives, prayer loudly with their families during our visit. It was moment of pride for us to see how God works his ways. Around 12.45 noon, we had to hurry back to the convent, as sisters wanted us to spend some time with the school kids. Three hours with the kids, but, looked like just few minutes. These children were bundle of joy and such a blessing. They all were so happy to learn new action songs and wanted us to visit them again. After spending some time with the kids, Sudhir our guide took us through the huge garden. Greenery, greenery and only greenery, no words to describe, it was beautiful to see God’s lovely creation – the nature.

After an hour in the garden of Canoska, all three of us went back to church as father wanted us to join him while he goes out for village visit. This village visit is some thing that I will never forget for life. Father happened to serve Holy mass for people in this village at 8.30pm in the evening which went on beyond 10.00pm. After mass, father gave us the opportunity to share our experience with Jesus Youth with those villagers. Before the mass began, the walk we had with father in the lanes of the village to gather the villages is something which I will never forget for life. The kind of passion father has to ensure these villagers receive the word of God and feel loved and cared for is unforgettable. Only if we had this kind of love for our fellow being, this earth would have been a heaven.

With wonderful memories and loads of love and warmth from people of Tuni –Vizag, Pinto and I headed off back to Hyd. There are loads of things which I would love to share about this trip, but, at times no words can express our feelings. I feel blessed that God chose me to be part of this mission.

I take this opportunity to thank you for praying for me, comforting & strengthening me especially during my sickness and helplessness. Your short visits, comforting words, expressions of love, prayerful support & gestures of concern reveal to me the tenderness of God’s love, His mercy & compassion. I have experienced tangibly the genuineness of Christ’s deep love. It helped me to believe that when my sufferings & pains are big and my strength is no longer enough I should never give up because where my strength ends God’s grace begins.

From the time I was diagnosed with Spine Tuberculosis, God was continuously speaking His Words of encouragement through the word of God 2Cor 12 : 9, “My grace is sufficient for you for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Yes, it was really true. His grace was sufficient for me to accept first of all this sickness and the longtime confinement to bed at this age. For so many months I had to depend on others for everything. Those were moments of humbling myself and accepting my helplessness. Waiting patiently for God’s time was not very easy, but He taught me to be joyful in accepting sufferings from God’s hand. I learned to thank God every moment, contemplating His face lying on bed. My bed was the Alter wherein I joined with Jesus to offer sacrifices & thanksgiving to the Father. For complete six & half months I had to lie down on bed and participate in the Eucharist whenever it was provided. I longed for the Eucharistic Lord daily & He would come to my room, enter into my life strengthening me from within. How wonderful & best friend I have in Jesus with whom I shared everything.

I thank Him for stepping into every worst situations of my life. In those difficult circumstances I remembered that Jesus is in the boat with me on the chaotic, turbulent sea of life; for some moments He appeared silent, but He had never forsaken me. In moments of my loneliness & Isolation He came close to me, kept company and spoke tenderly & friendly saying, “ No one and nothing can separate you from my love”.

I believe that His will for me is the best, because He never makes mistakes. He works in ways which I do not know. So when I am given sufferings & pains I know that He knows what is best for my life. I learned to offer my sufferings & prayers for others, not only for those whom I promised or whom I know but to those who are in need of, those who are in darkness, sin & the lost souls. In sickness I understood that endurance & patience is what I need. There is also prize for endurance from the Lord, so there was motivation in me that gave me the stamina to keep going. The first thing I did was praying and it helped me to stay emotionally & spiritually stable. Second thing was trusting God who created me & who can recreate me. Third thing was to thank Him for the sickness and the healing he was doing in his own time in my life. And all these three important aspects helped me to be faithful to the Lord and He gave me double for my trouble….. double blessings.

I never blame a day. Good days gave me happiness, bad days gave me experience. Both were essential & both were God’s blessings. I did not ask Him in sickness why me Lord. I was very much convinced that His gifts are both blessings & sufferings. When I receive blessings I do not ask Him why me Lord, then how can I ask Him in suffering? Today when I look back I thank the Lord for my sickness because through those moments I came closer to the Lord & experienced the depth of His love for me.

Words are not sufficient to express my gratitude towards my Provincial Superior, Sr. Mary S.Kuriakose who showed her concern, care & interest in my wellbeing; My Superior and sisters of the community who looked after me day & night with all their love & affection sacrificing so much of their time & energy. Dr.Sr.Susheela, Dr.Sr.Lini, Dr.Prasad and other doctors, nurses & sisters of Vijaya Marie hospital who treated me & looked after me; Sisters of Vincenza Nilayam with whom I stayed few days who showed their concern & care with lots of prayers, Sisters of the Province who came to see me with their strong support of encouragement, Fr.Stephen Thomas who administered the sacraments of reconciliation & Eucharist very often & also other Priests who celebrated Mass for me, My brothers & sisters from Jesus Youth who visited me, prayed for me & offered sacrifices for my good health; my parents, sisters & dear ones who constantly offered prayers on my behalf; the staff & students friends from near & far who expressed their concern in different ways……and above all Dr.Vijaya Rama Rao, the Orthopedic doctor who treated me with dedication & gentleness. I experienced strong support of all these persons who are dear to me and their spiritual encouragement rejuvenated me for the 2^nd mile.

Finally I want to say that I enjoy life, no matter how hard it may seem, when life gives me a thousand reasons to cry, I show to the world that I have a million reasons to smile. I once again thank God for the complete healing, spiritual enrichment & bountiful blessings. I thank each one of you for your powerful prayers, strong support, encouragement, love, concern & care for me. God bless you & your dear ones.

Welcome to advent, a time of joyful awaiting of Jesus, undoubtedly the greatest teacher ever to have laid His feet on this earth! His ministry outshines that of other teachers in the aspect that while others just preached, Jesus' actions and His whole life stood as a great testament to what He taught. Even through His birth, the lessons He gives us are plenty.

The birth of Jesus, a birth that divided the entire human history into two, did not take place in the luxurious harems of Israel, but in a humble manger in Bethlehem. Modern wisdom tells us that you have to be born in the right place to be successful in future, the right place referring to your country or family of birth. However, the birth of Jesus asks us to rethink; having been born in a stable was not a deterrent for Him to be the world's savior. In a world obsessed with royal lineages and aristocracy, the King of Kings chose a carpenter's family!

Another conventional thought for success spells that you need to know the right people, the 'right' being the rich and the powerful. After reading this statement, let us just check the first visitors of Holy Infant. Were they Roman Generals or the Jewish leaders? Was it the Egyptian Pharaoh or an Oriental wise man? No, a flock of silent cattle and group of simple shepherds guided by angelic voices. Probably, His first gifts would have been the humble offerings of these shepherds!

As we continue, we see the visit of the Magi and Herod's devious plan to murder the newborn Messiah. Even thought Herod convinced himself of the foolproof plan he had hatched, GOD had something else in mind; through an angelic vision, He guides the Magi and Joseph to safety. So, no matter what your enemies have in mind, you have with you an Almighty GOD who will cover you with His feathers and guard you under His wings. The psalmist proclaims that “He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; on their hands they will lift you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.” So, yet another lesson on GOD's saving hand, exemplified by none other than His only Son!

Now, during this advent, before asking Jesus to take birth in our hearts, let us just pause for a while and see whether we are still forcing Him to take birth in a dirty manger? Let us purify ourselves to prepare a birthplace befitting the King of Kings and spread the good news around. Happy Advent!

Pro-life program at St. Francis Junior College

After Intercession Team, it was Pro-life Team's turn with the St. Francis Junior College, Secunderabad, when they were approached by the college to conduct a Pro-life session to the plus two students of the college on 4th December, 2010

Sr. Benedicta lit the lamp for the program with her welcome speech and for ice breaking, Frankline conducted a 'Stand If' activity, with a prize given to the winner. Starting with the first session by Roshan, the students of St. Francis Junior College imbibed the concepts of value of life. With the help of audio-visual tools, the various threats against life such as abortion, contraception, sterilization, euthanasia etc. were explained to the future mothers.

Second Session, which began at 12 o’ clock, dealt with the threats against institution of marriage & family and substance abuse. By afternoon, the program, attended by around 500 students and their teachers, came to an end, building a new base for the army of life!

Core Team Training by Campus Minsitry

Campus Minsitry of Hyderabad conducted the core team training for the core teams of St. Francis College and St. Joseph College on 13th and 14th of November, 2010. Charles, National Campus Team member, was the main resource, joined in by Livin, a forerunner from Bangalore. In a 2-day workshop, the participants were immersed in an ensemble of sessions, discussion, workshops, activities, sharing etc.

Through sessions on spirituality (Vandana), spiritual formation & continuity (Adolf chettan), evangelisaton of a campus leader, the turf was set ready and the workshops on conducting a prayer meeting, leading praise & worship, creating an academic calendar etc. helped the participants gain a working understanding of the dynamics and soul of Campus Ministry. Discussions on the current trends of youth, challenges faced by them etc.,aided in setting a new perspective for the participants. Sachith, Abhishek and Jeffie, Hyderabad Campus Team members, also shared their experiences during their campus years and how Campus Ministry was instrumental in grooming them to be the Jesus Youths and the individuals they are today.

Towards the end of the program, election for coordinators was conducted and Anu & Anusha were elected as the Coordinator and Asst. Coordinator of the St. Francis College prayer group respectively. Sr. Alphonsa, the Principal of St. Francis College, was also present during the program, constantly guiding and motivating the team.

Night Vigil for Nascent Human Life

Holy Trinity Church, Begumpet, came alive on the night of 27th November, when 30 Jesus Youths from Hyderabad gathered together for the night vigil for nascent human life. The night vigil, organized by the pro-life ministry, started with exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, by Fr. Vijay, the Asst. Parish Priest. Decades of Rosary later, the community recited the first vespers of the first Sunday of the advent, followed by the supplication of life.

After a reading of Mother Teresa's speech, a wonderful time of Praise & Worship, led by Christopher Peters and Charles Peters preceded a divine hour of adoration, led by Sr. Mary. During the holy hour, the congregation placed in their prayers the five major challenges against life - abortion, euthanasia, threats to the institution of marriage & family, substance abuse and character assassination & all other forms of killing. Following the Holy Hour, Jinson led the intercession, which concluded with Thanksgiving by Geo.

By 4.55 am, the adoration closed with the benediction by Fr Vijay. In the Holy Mass that followed, Father emphasized on the importance of life and significance of pro-life movement during the homily. With a Jubilee prayer led by Calvin, the 8-hour vigil came to the end.

December Intercession Day

The chapel of St Francis Junior College, Secunderabad, witnessed yet another gathering of the Jesus Youths for the December Intercession day. A change from its predecessors, this time, the adoration lasted 12 hours. Beginning with a Holy Mass, followed by exposition of the Blessed Holy Sacrament by Rev. Mother Superior of the community, the day was adorned with prayers from Jesus Youths and religious from Hyderabad.

Intercession team led the adoration during the initial hours, followed by the Campus Ministry. For the afternoon session, the students from St. Francis Junior College had taken the charge. Pro-Life Team led thereafter and the adoration concluded by evening, led by the Nurses ministry.

Pre-jubilee gatheringsssss......

Pre-Jubilee gathering at Kadapa started with an anointed Praise & Worship, followed by the Word of GOD sharing. An enthralling testimony of Abhihek led the congregation to Jubilee preparation session, animated by Prashanth. The gathering concluded with a lunch and everyone departed after a prayer.

Commencing with a Holy Rosary and a Holy Mass, the pre-Jubilee gathering at Adilabad proceeded to the testimony sharing of Joy chettan. The second day had the participants cleansing their sins through Confession and receiving the body & blood of our Lord after that. Following the breakfast, a Spirit-filled session of Praise & Worship followed, after which Vijay conveyed the instructions for Jubilee and about the plenary indulgence. For the Jubilee material discussion, participants were divided into groups and after the discussion, the gathering concluded with lunch.

Holding the hands of the Lord - Leema Stalin

14th November-Children's Day, let me share with you my experiences of the day. I started my day by selecting songs for the Sunday Mass, albeit feeling a bit lazy and upset. Clock was ticking past and mom's scolding finally made me rush to the church. After reaching the church and having a short prayer, Father asked us to start the Prayers; we started with a beautiful hymn, and the Holy Mass was a wonderful experience like never before! I could clearly feel GOD leading me throughout the Holy Mass.

Now, after all this started my dilemma - whether I should go to marriage function in Nagole or to the one in Tarnaka. Even after deciding where to go, there were no means to go! Checking with friends returned no good results, and then suddenly, I remembered one of my neighbours who is from my office. After checking with her and hearing that she is also going, I was like 'Oh, wow!' and praised GOD. My office colleagues joined in and before we started for the marriages, I told them that I have my prayer meeting and have to reach Begumpet by at least 2.30 pm. We started, visited one venue and moved on to the second in a systemic manner. After reaching the second venue, the thought arose, “Now, who will drop me at Begumpet?” Seeing my concern, two of my ex-team members agreed to accompany me till Paradise. Even though I was tensed of not knowing the route, I felt a cool wave of relief hitting me as I recited a Holy Rosary; through intercession of Mother Mary, we got a nice autowala who dropped me right in front of St. Francis College. Praise God!

After rushing into the meeting, I was greeted by a wonderful time of Praise n Worship, led by Livin from Bangalore. After this, we had a time of dodge ball - though I was tired, I got energised while playing with my brothers and sisters and had a wonderful time of fun and enjoyment. Following this, we had cake cutting, wherein we attacked the cake. Finally, saying bye to all, I started back for home. After reaching home, while sharing my experience with mom, a thought struck me that even those things which seem small to us, GOD has planned them so beautifully, and organized them so well, so much so that we often forget those moments where we were guided, helped and comforted by our Loving Lord. Today, it was impossible for me to travel like this, which I did only because of GOD who was, who is and who will be with me all the time. I was realising that even when we forget to thank GOD, He takes care of even our smallest and tiniest things so that His child shall not be left alone.

Let us surrender every moment when we breathe, we think, we plan, we walk, to our Lord Jesus and ask Him to bless us, and I am sure the day will turn to be a very beautiful one.

Auxilium School Retreat

Jesus said, “I tell you truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven” (Matthew 18:3)

What more can we ask of His love for children than this divine word! Jesus Youth Hyderabad had a wonderful opportunity of being with His favourite ones through the one day program, "Our Father's Love", conducted at Auxilium School, Mahindra Hills. Sr. Rosily, the principal of the school, had specially invited Jesus Youth to conduct this retreat for the Christian Students for Classes 6 – 10.

Being conducted for the first time, the program was looked forward to by each and everyone. The program started with an exciting ice breaking session and MCing by Prashanth Veneer (Arts). Music by Joseph Benarjee & Srujan captivated the audience throughout the program and the Holy Mass.

Starting with a touching session on 'Love of GOD' by Vandana, the program proceeded to Holy Mass, celebrated by Fr. Richard. The afternoon session on "I've a Big GOD", taken very beautifully by Loretta, dwelled on various fears like bullying at school, peer pressure, lack of attention, broken homes , sexual harassment & abuse and how to proceed from that fear to freedom.

The session was followed by two games - a Bible Character Study on Joseph (OT) and an activity which demonstrated the need to be united, working as a team, helping & encouraging one another. Through the games, in which they participated actively, the students of Auxilium School gained insights into the life of Joseph (OT) and strength of unity. A presentation on Jesus Youth gave them a flavour of Jesus Youth lifestyle and true to the Jesus Youth tradition, the program ended with some action songs.

As we thank GOD Almighty for His abundant grace & mighty guidance throughout the program and pray for the students of Auxilium School, it would not be complete without mentioning the names of Preethi, Leema, Prashanth (Arts) & Antony who coordinated the program, Lucy chechi who gave her valuable inputs, Sherlyn & Jayamary who coordinated the intercession & helped with action songs & games and Tony, Sachith, Phinix & everyone who had come to the venue & helped as volunteers.

How I met my Lord - Prashanth Kumar

Born to a Catholic father and a Hindu mother, my faith was always a source of dilemma for me; but GOD, in His infinite wisdom, had planned everything out for me even before I was conceived! It all began 12 years ago, in 1998, when He decided that it was high time I came to taste His love and know more about Him. Being a part of a huge joint family, all of us, including the families of my father's siblings used to stay together. One fine evening, some voice coming from my aunt's house caught my attention; on checking it out, I could see a group of people kneeling down and reciting the Holy Rosary. Even that brief glance showed me the immense joy and fellowship they shared in that group. This wave of joy prompted me to join them from the following day onwards.

In the beginning, all I could do was to follow whatever others were doing - when they knelt, my knees also grazed the floor, whenever they lifted their arms, mine went up as well, and slowly, I started reciting the Lord's prayer and Hail Mary by referring a book. Even though I could not understand what I did or what I said, the peace and calmness which it gave drew me more into it. Since I was not used to kneeling and praying, pain took the better of my knees and stopped after reciting one decade. After the prayer, my aunt started distributing chocolates to all of us. Even though I was rejoiced on getting a chocolate, it soon faded away when I saw that I was given only one, whereas others got more than me! When I approached my aunt regarding this, her reply was that I got only one chocolate because I prayed only one decade; the more I pray, the more I will get. While returning to my home, I had the chocolate and tasted a form of GOD's love through that chocolate bar!

The next day, I came enthusiastically and joined in the Rosary. Ignoring the pain, I made it through the entire Rosary and listened eagerly to the Word of GOD that followed. Gradually, I started finding more sweetness in the beads of the Rosary and Word of GOD became my daily bread. One fine day, my aunt took me to church, where I joined Catechism and learnt the foundations of my faith and the meanings of the prayers. For the first time, in that church, I recited the Lord's prayer and the angelic salutation, completely understanding their meanings, and no where else in my life had I found this much joy! I started being regular to church and on December 8th, I, Muktheshwar Rao, received baptism and was born again in Christ as Prashanth Kumar.

As the Holy Scripture says, “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.” (John 15:16), I firmly believe that it was not I who chose Jesus, but He that chose me, He chose me to go and bear the lasting fruit. After discovering GOD, I did not choose to keep this newfound joy to myself, instead to spread this among my family, friends, classmates and neighbours; and this bore fruit when my mother and brother received baptism four years ago. But the journey does not end here; by making me a part of this youth movement, Jesus Youth, GOD is still leading me and taking me places where I can sow the seeds of His love among a larger crowd and help them realise the joy that I had realised 12 years ago in that prayer group in my aunt's house. As my spiritual journey proceeds, my only desire remains to see Him more clearly, love Him more dearly and praise Him more cheerly. Praise GOD!

Vizag Chronicles: Nurses Ministry goes deeper and wider

From St. Joseph’s College, Koti to St. Joseph’s Nursing College, Vizag, it has been raining graces for the past few weeks for Jesus Youth in Andhra Pradesh. Tucked in the beautiful coastal line of Vishakapatnam, St. Joseph Nursing College houses over 100 Catholic Nursing students and all of them received the grace to know more about the Lord and come closer to Him during the retreat conducted over there from 22nd to 24th October. The chief resource, Fr. Jose, and Sijo, music resource, were assisted by Sr. Mary, Chaitanya, Jeffie, Jithin, Phinix and Prashant from Jesus Youth. After numerous sessions, sharings and testimonies, the participants, consisting of people speaking Telgu, Malayalam, Hindi, Oriya etc. realised that love of GOD knows no bounds of language, region or age and His grace permeates every weakness of self and strengthens them.

First day of the retreat started with the Holy Rosary and an ice breaker activity, which was followed by Fr’s session on “Believing is blessing”. After the Holy Mass and lunch, Prashanth’s session on GOD’s love and Chaitanya’s sharing on his GOD experience opened the loft in the hearts of many. During the adoration in the evening, many of the participants experienced being close to GOD like never before and shared that it was the most touching incident which ever happened to them in the recent past.

Saturday, the second day, commenced with a session on forgiveness by Fr. Jose, followed by a session on Sin & repentance by Sr. Mary. Session on sin, taken by Fr. Jose continued, eventually leading to confession and adoration in the beautiful convent chapel.

The final day of the retreat, Sunday, began with a session on inner healing, taken by Fr. Jose, which also consisted of snippets from his own life, on his healing experience and how his involvement in Jesus Youth had changed his life. Following this, the Prolife session by Phinix inspired many a future nurses to stand for the dignity and sanctity of human life, in every form, conceived or foetal. Following the Holy Mass and the lunch were sharing by Prashanth and a panel discussion moderated by Jithin.

After the panel discussion, a brief video presentation on Jesus Youth and its pillars was taken by Phinix and the presentation was succeeded by the core team formation process. Through taking of lots, the new core team for St. Joseph’s Nursing College was chosen and specially anointed and blessed by Fr. Jose. Sr. Principal of the college and Sr. Superior of the convent also joined during the blessing and installation of the new core team. The day concluded with inner healing adoration led by Fr. Jose.

Throughout the retreat, the students also had the opportunity to have a counseling session with Sr. Smitha from Kurnool Retreat center. For most of them, it was a great solace and found this a window to vent their feelings and realise more about the forgiveness and love of GOD. Altogether, the retreat made a mark in the spiritual fabric of St. Joseph’s Nursing College and let us keep the students and the college in our prayers.

Annual Retreat at St. Joseph’s College

St. Joseph’ Degree and PG College, Koti, held their annual retreat during October 16th - 18th. Graciously accepting the invitation of Fr. Vincent, the Vice-Principal of PG section, Jesus Youth of Hyderabad assisted during the retreat for 2 hours daily on each of the three days.

The first day of the retreat was taken by Fr. David, who spoke about GOD’s love and how to identify and answer His call. Through various sessions and activities, the participants strapped themselves in a spiritual journey through these divine concepts. The Jesus Youth hour started with a string of songs by Russell, Priya, Joseph and Arjun. To put some action on the floor, action songs by Jose and Uday did the deed. Following the songs and actions, a Bible character study on Joseph (from Old Testament) ensued, taken by Jeffie. Set in the form of a treasure hunt, the activity introduced the life of Joseph, son of Jacob, to the students of
St. Joseph in an interactive and fun-filled manner, as they sieved through the pages of the Holy Bible for the answers. After the activity, a sharing by Russell, followed by Praise &Worship marked the end of the first day.

The second day, led by Fr. SagayaRaj, was built on sessions of Sin and Repentance. To complement the sessions &sharing by the resource, a skit was played by the audiovisual ministry of Jesus Youth, which struck a chord with the audience on the various sins prevalent in their campus life and above all, about the love of Jesus which saves everyone from clutches of the evil one.

As we came to the final day of the retreat, sessions taken by both the resources, Fr. David and Fr. Sagayaraj, instilled a sense of mission in each one of the participants. At the onset of the Jesus Youth hour, a humourous skit, reflecting the need for always having Jesus in the front seat of your life was played by the audio visual ministry. Following the skit was a brief video on the history of Jesus Youth and a sharing by Frankline on the pillars of Jesus Youth and
how his journey of life was altered and touched by being a Jesus Youth. Following the tradition of Jesus Youth, the program concluded with a joyful and prayerful time of music and action songs, with prayers on the lips and Jesus in the hearts.

September Intercession Day

“Show us a better way to begin the month”, challenges the Intercession Ministry, while referring to the monthly Intercession day! Continuing the tradition of dedicating the first Saturday of every month for the Intercession day, month of October also saw the Intercession day on October 2nd, at St. Francis School Chapel, Secunderabad.

The Intercession day of October saw 25 Jesus Youths from Hyderabad joining in, along with some of the nuns from St. Anne’s Community. Apart from Eucharistic adoration, Rosaries, intercession hour and JY prayer, everyone could also savour an inspiring talk on Holy Rosary by Fr. Dion. During his talk, Fr. Dion emphasised the importance and significance of the Rosary. Before concluding his talk, Fr. exhorted each one to make the devotion to Holy Rosary a part of our lives and to spread this divine practice.

As they proceed with their activities in Hyderabad, let us keep the Intercession ministry and each of her members in our prayers so that the Lord’s mighty protection may guard them from all the anxieties and the forces of the enemy; may their endeavours bear fruit in abundance and be a strong backbone to the Jesus Youth of Hyderabad.

A new flower blossoms in the garden of St. Francis College, Begumpet

All thanks to the grace of the Lord, the Campus Minsitry of Jesus Youth Hyderabad has set yet another milestone by forming a new prayer group in St. Francis College, Begumpet. Starting with the annual retreat conducted during September 10th - 12th, with Annie John as the chief resource, Jesus Youth inspired many a young souls to come closer to the Lord and revel more in His love. The response to the retreat was overwhelming from both the students as well as the administration of college.

The follow-up program for the retreat, which blazed the stages of St. Francis on 2nd of October, was attended by 30 students. Starting with an hour of praise & worship, the students were led to an inspiring session on ‘Call & Response’, delivered by Jithin. Following a testimony by Sachith, a Bible study on the book of Esther, by Jeffie, ensued, and the program concluded with a prayer. Amazing music by Russel, Priya, Graham, Joseph & Rahul, along with incredible audiovisuals by Jose and Uday helped the crowd ease in and stay tuned all through the entire 3 hours.

After the program, in a gracious turn of events, all the 30 students wanted to stay back and be a part of the prayer group; from them 10 were chosen as the core team through taking of lots. The core team has decided to come together every Tuesdays and Thursdays to built the fellowship and grow more in communion with the Lord. Let us all keep these young sisters of ours in our prayers and pray that the Lord may use them as His mighty instruments to touch more hearts in the Campus. Also, as the Campus Ministry moves ahead to spread the Good News in the campuses of Hyderabad, let our prayers be a boost and protection for them.

New Service Team for Jesus Youth Hyderabad

26th Spetember - a date which sweetened the praying lips of every Jesus Youth in Hyderabad, witnessed the formation of new Hyderabad Service Team. The two-day reconstitution process, held at HASSS, Secunderabad, saw the participation of over 37 Jesus Youth from Andhra and was graced by presence of Rodney Pereira & Jose Sebastian from the Jesus Youth National Team, along with Besto & Nisha.

The first day of the program, 25th September, consisted of sessions on GOD’s call and Christian leadership by Rodney Pereira. During his sessions, Rodney,a no-stranger to Jesus Youth Hyderabad, emphasised on the realising the value of GOD’s call and our response to the same. Taking cues from the parable of labourers in the vineyard (Matthew 20:1-16), the session brought out that the ultimate reward is GOD’s call itself and not the wages at the day’s end. In the hours that followed, topics discussed included - GOD’s mighty plan for each one of us, the call to be sent out and the charistmatic & spiritual fruits of the Spirit.

After-lunch session focussed on prioritising everything in one’s life as God first, family next, followed by work/study and everything else after these. With real life examples and references to the Holy Scriputre, the session influenced many a minds gathered over there. Towards the night, a Bible study session on the wedding at Cana (John 2:1-12) gave everyone a new insight on the portion. Linking the book of John to Genesis, many a hidden gems were revealed in this new light.

The following day, 26th September, Jose Sebastian, from Banglore, joined in leading the reconstitution efforts. Commencing with the importance of having SMAART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Aligned, Realisitic and Time-bound) goals, Jose shed light on various aspects of managerial excellence, such as having a set agenda for the meetings, definite Minutes of Meeting, punctualilty, executing the plans in a time-bound manner etc. To emphasise on the uniqueness of Christian leadership, he also shared with the crowd the principles of leadership, love, energy, commmunication, staying in power, planning, humility, self-control, authority and opportunity.

Following the session, the congregation entered into a time of Praise and Worship as a preamble to the discernment process. Through a Spirit-led election process, 8 new leaders were chosen to serve the Jesus Youth of Hyderabad and were specially anointed to go forth. The new Hyderabad Service Team includes Vijay (Coordinator), Frankline(Asst. Coordinator), Sr. Mary (Animator), Calvin & Edith (Elders),
Sachith, Anthony, Leema, Srujan, Bibitha, Gino, Preethi, Vandana (ex-officio JY AP Service Team), Treesa (ex-officio JY AP Service Team) and Prashanth (ex-officio JY AP Service Team). Let us all keep the new Service team and all their endeavours in our prayers.

Around three years back a Pro-Life cell was formed as the part of Intercession ministry in Hyderabad .And the main intention of this cell was to have a Pro-Life gathering in Hyderabad.Over a period of time the Pro-Life cell had conducted some exhibitions in and around AP for JY programs and in some parishes during the last two years and received a good response.

However, the desire to conduct a one day program always remained, and gained fulfillment on 11th July 2010. The Program was called VITA and was conducted at at the PG Auditorium ,St Francis College , Begumpet

The goal of the program was to spread awareness of life related issues among JYs as well as other Catholic Youth movement in Andhra Pradesh. The vision of this program was to put a foundation stone in building a strong JY Pro-Life Ministry in Andhra.
The chief resource person for this program was Dr Finto an active Pro-Lifer since eight years and the part of JY National Pro-Life team.

We had participants from various parts of A.P. I.E. Hyderabad, Warangal. Vijayawada , Khammam, Adilabad and Vizag. Participants are also from movements likfe Youth United for Christ and other youths .

Program started with Holy Mass at 9 AM,Celebrated by Fr Paul, Director , FBA Nagaram along with Fr Vinay. Fr Paul had delivered an inspiring sermon touching many pro-Life issues.After the mass emcee Jacob welcomed the crowd and introduced Dr Finto to them.

Around 10.30 the first session regarding Abortion begun till 11.40 The session continued from 11.55 after the action song by the music ministry till 12.50. During the session Dr finto mainly shared about the issues like abortion, sterilization, contraception etc. During the session, he shared his personal experiences as a gynaecologist

At 12.50 , Mrs Reshma shared her personal experience. She told how word of God strengthen her to stand for life .

At 1 o clock every one dispersed for lunch and came back at 1.45

Several myths were busted in a session post lunch by Dr Finto.Holy hour Adoration was from three to four. Sr Mary lead the Adoration and Adolf brother leads the music. Holy Hour end with the benediction by Fr Vinay

At 5 o clock, Phinix had shared about the JY Pro-Life Ministry in India and the dream of a Pro-Life Ministry in AP.

Then Vandana, JY AP Coordinator, took a session about Jesus youth Jubilee and the Program ended at 5.40 with a thanks giving note by Jacob.

The one day program was a great success and helped spread the word of GOD beautifully.

Heart Felt Sharings about Streams Of Grace -Nurses Gathering -13 June 2010

I would like to Thank God with all my heart, when I remember about the 'Streams of Grace' nurses one day program. This is the fruit of prayer, fasting and total dependence on God. The nurses those who coordinated the program were not very experienced in planning, coordinating and mobilizing things. I think it was the key factor for this one day nurses program. It made them (us) more depend on HIM in prayer and fasting. It give me lots of happiness that God made the one day program wonderful. Some things to describe...

Mobilization : The nurses after their job going to different nursing colleges and mobilized people, when ever Sr. Mary or any one who going to mobilize any college (or infact for any thing) they used to repeat 'please pray', Indeed there were no more suffering that they may have to take because their journey was mostly in bus. The fruit was 420 participants attended the program.

Intercession : All were in fact the intercession coordinators. And it was simple and innocent prayers during the nurses prayer meeting (1 week before for this program). Prayer SMS campaign was very high that every day we used get the prayer request SMS for the program.

Decoration : Some thing very simple but marvelous. Many people commented about it positively. But the money that spend and the effort for this was very less than that of many other programs. It was all about the humble efforts of Vijaya marie college students, most of us didn't see them, but their simple work was beautiful.

It was God who guided the program. Now we all are well-versed in conducting programs and our dependence to the Lord getting 'NATURALLY' reducing. This is what had to be changed.

It was very clear when we see some of them crying after the program, the joy of becoming emptied to the Lord, and the Lord uses the open empty vessels mightily.

It gives us lots of hope and courage to say 'we are strong when we are week' and give us strength to take initiatives in faith.

Fr Sunil took it to the roots of the spiritual journey.

It was like a retreat, Covering all the topics of Sin, repentance, forgiveness, and anointing and praying for different needs.

It’s a gathering of around 420 students.

It was blessing for the Nurses team and all the others who were involved in the program.

Journey Of The Jubilee Cross In Hyderabad.

From Cochin to Tamil Nadu and from Tamil Nadu finally to Andhra Pradesh, to make Lenten season more beautiful, the Jubilee Cross was brought on 1 March 2010. The most awaited day for all the Jesus Youth of Andhra Pradesh. Blessing poured out abundantly on every AP citizen and we were so blessed to receive the Jubilee Cross, thanks and all glory to heavenly father.

God had a definite and set plan for us - and He guided us at every step of the way into the fulfillment of that plan! As per God’s plan, the great journey of Jubilee Cross in Andhra started from Palamaneru. The Cross went in and around this place from 1st to 3rd of March. Joyful journey with all the teens marching through the streets, the Lord made his presence in every family through the Cross. Next, it was taken to Hyderabad on 4th morning. The first day was a magnificent start at Emmaus of Hyderabadians, after which started the incredible journey around Hyderabad for seven full days. On the very first day, after Emmaus, the Cross was first taken to Jason's place and next moved to Loretta's place. Driving away every evil and bringing loads and loads of blessing in these families, the Cross was subsequently taken to Preeti's aunt's house. As the day came to end, the love of Christ kept spreading though out Secunderabad area. From Preeti's place, we carried the Cross to Russel's house. Then the will of the Lord was to bless Mr & Mrs Harry's house. Before, we headed towards our home to sleep in peace, we dropped in at Roshan's place to honor the Cross one last time for that day. Reaching out to so many families and bringing joy to every one was fabulous and a great blessing not just for the families but for each one of us. The spirit of the Lord was leading this great journey that we started to share the joy of jubilee year. Day one was really an awesome time spent with the Lord.

Psalm 37:23 - The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord. 5th March, day two, the Cross was kept at Holy Family Church, Rahamathnagar. This parish can also be called as Jesus Youth parish. Not a single family in this parish is ignorant of Jesus Youth Movement. Because of time constrains, we could not carry the Cross to every house, though we loved too, but the mighty Lord worked his way. All the family members of parish delightfully gathered in the Church to venerate the Cross as one family. Things worked as planned by the Lord for his ways are different and always magnificent. Finally, we managed to visit three families in and around Rahamathnagar.

The very next day being the first Saturday of the month, day of intersession at Hyderabad. But before the time of intersession, all the couples had blessed time at Hi-tech city in the morning. Later it was taken to St Francis Collage/ What an elated day was that for Jesus Youth members to be part of jubilee year preparation and also prepare ourselves for third Sunday of lent. Blessing poured out tremendously when we spent the day in presence of the blessed Jubilee Cross. Thanks to Fr. Alex, who made the day even more special with his sharing about God's message during the three Lenten weeks. Week one 'Transfiguration', week two - 'Repentance' and week three 'Lord say - again I say repent'. Followed by Fr Alex's session was time to clean our hearts to welcome the Lord - time of confession. The grace that reflected on every Jesus Youth member after intersession time was worth witnessing. That was a day when not just we but all the nurses of Vijay Marie collage were blessed, as the Cross was carried from Intersession chapel to the collage. Unending praises and thanks flowed when the nurses lead the worship marvelously. Once again it was the Lord plan to bless not just the Vijay Marie nurses but also the nurses at St.Theresa church. Huge crow gather to worship and adore the Lord in presence of Jubilee Cross at St Theresa Church - Adoration chapel. All the members who gathered there were so engrossed in loving the Lord that the time just flew by and the worship ended at 12 mid night. This bought us to end of another day - 6th March.

7th March - new day, new beginning but blessings continued to flow. Sunday morning began with the Staff Nurses gathering to venerate the Cross. Later it we gathered at Vandana's place (AP Coordinator) for a time of prayer. At noon, the Jubilee Cross was once again taken back to St. Francis Collage to celebrate the third Sunday of Lent. This day was a very special day for our full timer (Mewan). It was his last Central Prayer Group (CPG) that he attended in Hyderabad as a full timer. Mewan and Vijay (Hyderabad coordinator) were all set to kindle the fire in every one's heart. They both, by the grace and mercy of the Jesus lead the Taize prayer. Soon after the CPG, Jubilee Cross was taken to Kukatpally, where another gang of nurses gathered at Pioneer college of Nursing to adore our loving Jesus and this went on till nightfall.

Psalm 32:8 - I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. Beginning of new week - Monday - 8th March, lead by the Holy Spirit of God, we reached out to the Jesus Youth families living at Santosh Nagar. Once again all the blessed ones were invited to Church. We all were so thankful to the Lord for this awesome time of praise and worship. Once again this day was very special and this time it was not Mewan but JB (Joseph Banerjee), it was his birthday. What more would JB ask for on this day, blessing of the Lord, prayers of Jesus Youth members, and last but not the least the presence of Jubilee Cross. We spent that evening in church and then the Cross was taken to Leema's house. The Lord made it possible, touching one corner of the city to other, the same night, the Cross was taken all the way from Santosh Nagar to Banjara Hills, Sachith's place. With this ended another great day to start a new and beautiful day i.e. 9 March.

As days passed by, the joy of Jubilee year preparation was increasing. And not to forget the over whelming response of Jesus Youth families. On 9th of March, we visited some other families Ram Nagar Parish and in the evening we also visited families living in Safilguda. We began this day's journey by visiting Angela & Genevieve's family. Like every other families, uncle and aunt were so happy to have the Cross in their house. The conversation about Cross and Jubilee year preparation went on and on but the clock dint stop to tick so we had to move on. With great love and faith, Rebecca's family welcomed the Cross, who not too far. Rebecca's mother was so touched by the presence of the Lord that she wanted the Cross taken in every room of the house to be blessed. Soon after praying for some time at her place, we visited her aunt's house. Rebecca's aunt and uncle were also so impressed by the Jesus Youth life style that they wanted to be part of us and willingly agreed to come for CPG. Such is the love of the Lord, it pulls every one nearer and nearer to him. Last but not the least, we landed at Crescentia 's place at 10.00PM. The Lord had his own plans, to pray for this family in a very special way, who badly need prayers. Crescentia 's aunt (Mrs Das) was admitted in hospital as she complaint of chest pain. The Lord by his grace miraculously saved Mrs Das from every danger. Another happy ending of Jubilee Cross’s journey on sixth day.

10 March - this was the last day of Jubilee Cross journey in Hyderabad, not to stop here but to leave the fire burning and go on its way. On this day the Cross was taken to St Anns Convent Bollaram the morning for a time of prayer. Soon after which we visited Shibu's place, which is near Shamshabad. Later in the evening we reached out to St Francis oF Assisi Church Ram Nagar. After wonderful time that the Ram Nagar parishners had during worship and mass, it was time for Jubilee Cross to move out of Hyderabad. A moment of fixed feelings, we were sad that the Cross will leave Hyderabad but at the same time we were happy about what the Lord had done during these seven days in Hyderabad and will continue in other parts of Andhra Pradesh and India. Praying that our mission of sharing the joy of Jubilee year will be great success, the cross was taken to Adilabad.

The Jesus Youth National Campus Meet 2009 held in Hyderabad (December 27-29) gave way for the Auditorium of St. Francis College, Begumpet, to be occupied with 800 energetic youth, teachers, religious and volunteers arriving from 18 states of India under the banner of The Campus Ministry.

His Grace, Rev. Fr. Marampudi Joji, Archbishop of Hyderabad and His Grace, Rev. Fr. Abraham Viruthakulanagara, Archbishop of Nagpur inaugurated the National Campus Meet 2009 by lighting the lamp. Present on stage to grace the occasion was George Devassy-JY International Coordinator, Siljo Thomas-JY National Coordinator, Reji Francis-General Coordinator, NCM, Fr. Joseph Puthenpura-Secretary, Xavier board of Higher Education India, Fr. Vijay-Youth Director of Hyderabad and Sr. Alphonsa Vattoly-Principal of St. Francis College for Women, Begumpet.

The fast paced world that we’re living in provides a great amount of resources that consequently we find it challenging to choose and believe in what is appropriate. The sudden rate of knots in Technology is increasing rapidly so much so there’s too much of information and data available around us. Today, we’re dependant on Media and Technology; henceforth seek our inner healing in other sources. People are increasingly becoming adapted to negative consequences around them.
We’ve lost our focus on things that are meant to be valuable. We’re seeking for the wrong things (fashion/popularity/money) and placing the good things (the Lord) behind us. As youth, there is excessive negativity being put in to our heads, that it makes way to lose our direction. The real world endeavors to manipulate us in various appearances telling us we’re not refined enough. We’re thinking of getting validated by external sources/efforts and unconsciously start believing these sources, thereby ignoring our own efforts.

But there is one hope that tells us, “You were created in the image and likeness of God”. This hope is the guarantee that none of us are short of anything in life. Youngsters are looking for acceptance and seeking people who fathom them. The challenge is to fathom that Jesus is the hope. He is the answer and nothing at all can take us off track if we believe in this foundation.

Session on Jesus as a Companion by George Devassy, JY International Coordinator:
The JY International Coordinator, George Devassy, shared with us his journey with Jesus. When he was in college he fought back with his peers to hold on to his identity. He was challenged on his manhood to smoke and drink. Highly resilient he defied them to attend the prayer meeting every week! It does not call for courage to lead an evil lifestyle. What takes courage is to stand in faith and accept Jesus as your companion.

Teens approach various roads to encounter life. Emotional pains, stress, lack of confidence, struggling to be accepted, low academic success, are some of the reasons why teenagers resort to a shady behavior. Today, the choices of youth are based on the lack of knowledge. With the depressing outlook in colleges, it is impossible for youngsters to survive in campuses unaccompanied. In modern days, what rules the Campus Style is the statement COOL. Smoking is cool. Drinking is cool. Drugs are cool. When youth should be busy experiencing the best of life, we find them unaware beleaguered with life.

Who can give meaning to life? Others can help you ‘find’ the meaning, but only Jesus can ‘give’ you the meaning of life. Now, do we surrender all to Jesus, freely or conditionally? The moment we surrender our life without hesitation we should be certain to secure the assistance of Jesus, as He has given us the assurance that He is with us and He will be our companion in our studies, work, family, ministry and personal life. If one knows and accepts Jesus as his/her companion the individual is sufficient to change the face of the campus.

Holy Mass:
The Holy Mass was celebrated by Most Rev. Abraham Viruthakulanagara, Archbishop of Nagpur. In the homily, His Grace spoke about the importance of love that is present in Jesus and on the need to love the poor and less fortunate in the society.

* DAY II of National Campus Meet 2009 *

Session on Sin by Elvis Kotooran, JY International Team Member:

The modern generation suffers spiritual blindness which makes us available to walk with the crowd. It is essential for us to know why we are a part of humanity and who is a Christian.

Is a Christian a believer? Well, even the devil believes in Jesus Christ! Then who is one? Anyone led by the Spirit of Jesus is called a Christian. Of course, those who repent, hear and obey of the Word of God and believes and does the Will of God will enter the Kingdom of God. We’re all made in the image and likeness of Jesus. But our likeness is destroyed because of our sin. Holiness is the power of a Child of God and we simply lack the only virtue that differentiates us from Jesus.
Today the world is desecrating because of the lack of wisdom i.e., the knowledge about God and the lack of knowing ourselves. 97 % of the today’s populace does not have an idea why we’re living and what is the purpose of life. It is only because we’re busy searching and dressing the problems of the world. The situation of mankind has deteriorated by the activities of the world. For the reason of lack of wisdom our spirit is blind folded and we conduct a sinful life, thereby missing out on the purpose of life, for which we’ve been created.

Jesus says the truth will set you free. Do we know the truth about ourselves? Who are we? Who and what decides our future? Is it God or we? We are the Children of God and what we are today is because of our decisions in life. The greatest gift God, in His wisdom, has given to us is Freedom. In our human strength we all want to do good to others and that which pleases God, but in due course, because of our sins, we do things which displease our creator. We’re all stimulated by the power of sin, and sin has dominion over us thus destroying our identity as the Child of God. Solely to obtain acceptance from the world we err.

Sin is disobedience and rebelliousness against God and has the power to kill the soul and separate us from God and His plan. If sin is in our life, we need to confess our sins as we’re the Children of God. But we’re ignorant of the reality that sin has before now been crucified on the cross which has given us a channel to lead a victorious life. God has given each one of us the opportunity to examine our faith and life. God is calling us to take part in His divinity, so we may live the life as a true Child of God. Jesus says come to me all that are weary and burdensome. Once we start disapproving ourselves to the practices of the world, we live by the guidance of the Holy Spirit rejecting the desires of the flesh and eventually start presenting ourselves as instruments of righteousness.

Confession:

Participants were ushered to confess their sins and soon secured a sense of peace and tranquility in their hearts. Our acknowledgment of the errant life and the burdens carried in our conscience encouraged us to retain faith in an upright conscience to lead a better life.

Holy Mass:

The Holy Mass was celebrated by Fr. Joseph Puthenpura. In the homily, Fr. Joseph shared with us that to experience freedom, one needs to be in good company. The experiences in life allow us to be aware of who we are. We’re the precious children of God and we have to be free children. We become precious by becoming available, in love and service, to others in the true spirit of freedom.

Panel Sharing:

A Panel Sharing discussion was well opened involving three Jesus Youth who have been involved with the Movement.

On Living A Life Of Holiness:

Leenu, one of the members, shared with us as to how she maintains her companionship with Jesus. To her, Holiness is about loving and having freedom in the Liberator. Her holiness has helped her build a relationship with Jesus and the love of Jesus has motivated her to continue to lead a holy life. Seeking the intercession of Mother Mary, and making regular confessions, has given her the freedom to grow in her spirituality.

The session helped open the minds of the participants about the possibilities of walking in freedom with Christ.

Session on Inner Healing by Elvis Kotooran, JY International Team Member:

As humans we encompass spiritual, physical and emotional realms.
There are a lot of beautiful incidents that befall in life. Yet, we meet unexpected failures and sorrows from people around us and often hand over to the world everything that we have power over to secure acceptance and love.
A mother’s love gives us memory power, compassion and tenderness. A father’s love gives us hope and the sense of righteousness, justice, prudence, courage, confidence, mercy, contentment, faithfulness, humility and a heart of thankfulness. Sometimes, we fail to receive love, acceptance, affection, appreciation and for someone to be there from our dearly loved ones. This, one at a time, compels us to seek the wrong forms of love from elsewhere building problems in our emotional personality and prevents the freedom, joy and fullness that Jesus has promised to us, leading us to sinful actions.

The tendency of searching for love in the world and in wrong places cannot satisfy our thirst. Jesus, through the Holy Spirit, is the only way who can give us the love we really require and help quench difficulties of our body, mind and soul.
Today, we’re surrounded by craving passions in life and moral problems are mounting only because of the lack of self acceptance. The world has positioned a few standards according to which when we try to match up to them we face the greatest form of complexity i.e., inferiority. We possess the freedom to choose to be or not be exposed to our fears and problems. We must, for that reason, recognize and accept the fear and acknowledge Jesus to help us come to conscience. In order to receive freedom from all the controllers and passions of life, the distinct selection that will transform our self portrait and rebuild our wounds and crippleness is the living Word of God. We must moderately stop paying attention to the world, not with our own understanding but with wisdom from the only begotten Son of God.

Adoration:

Led by Elvis Kotooran, inviting Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior, in atonement for sins committed, forgiving those who hurt us deliberately and unintentionally, we cried out to Jesus to help accept the fears and inferiorities in our lives. Hoping for a healing in His holy presence, we surrendered all our weaknesses to Him with a humble heart and soul.

Leaving the pain and sorrow unto Him, the experience of renewing our strength in Him and the touch of healing in our emotional realm made it our night of freedom.

* DAY III of National Campus Meet 2009 *
Session on Hope in Eternal Life by Adolf Goldwyn, JY Hyderabad:

Disobliging circumstances all around repeatedly disturb us leaving behind a great amount of hopelessness in our existence. This nature of hopelessness in our life impels us to behave in a manner that is not in tune with that of God’s motive.
Youth is a time of hope. This is our time to hope for a better education, job, future, yet so many affairs pull us in to misery. The Church hopes in us for a better future. But have we ever questioned, why are we living a life that is so full with despair? What are we hoping to do in this life? Have we designed our goal and how far have we reached? Each one of us faces troubles but we’re all called to rejoice and be happy in every situation, having hope in the living God. Our destination is and must be in highness with God’s plan for us to spend eternal life with Him. Our human senses are not enough to gauge what God has in store for us. Once we’re convinced that our goal is eternal life, then, we cannot afford to let our Creator be ashamed of His handicraft by leading our life the wrong way i.e., breathing in sin.

Life on earth is only the beginning. Eternal life is a reward, a gift that has already been given to us. It’s for us to unlock or let it remain the way it was presented to us. Hope and faith in a Christian life gives strength to overcome all the difficulties in life. The Lord has a plan for our eternal life and all we have to do is hopefully submit ourselves to Him and be convinced that He has a true plan for us.

Pope Benedict XVI quoted: True Christians can never be sad even if they have to face trials of various kinds because the presence of Jesus is the secret of their joy and peace.

Sharing by Soney Noble:

Soney Noble, the first JY Campus Ministry Coordinator, was a beautiful example of being a witness; having to watch two generations serving the Lord under the same roof.

Having being questioned by Jose Sebastian, she shared with us her college life experiences. Her conversion experience, that was her inner call to live for Jesus is what motivated her to walk the path of Christ. Having joined an Engineering College in 1984 she was exposed to constant ragging. But she found support in Jesus, who was and is the controller of her life. Faith formation was her gradual life. So as to keep her personal spirituality in shape she never failed to spend time with Jesus on the terrace of the hostel and lived her faith by praying the Rosary. With no access to a Church in her college, she took along her friends to a nearby Church, giving them an opening to know and experience the love of Jesus. Her love to grow closer to Jesus helped her experience His presence in all areas of life and continues glorifying the Lord through her life.

With the purpose of leading a good life in Jesus, she put in picture for us that albeit there would be struggles and temptations; we ought to hold on to Jesus firmly. We must have great faith and listen to and understand the purpose and plan of our life in the Lord, experiencing the power and seeking the companionship of the Holy Spirit.

Session on Youth as a Hope for the Church by Most Rev. Fr. Thomas Menamparambil, Archbishop of Guwahati & Chairman of C.B.C.I Commission for Education:

The strengths in a Jesus Youth are having an honest concern for others, not being egoistic, being selfless, and possessing the spirit of non competitive leadership, being loyal and devoted to the service of the Lord.

He imparted with us how, as students, we can encourage ourselves and shape our lives.
It is imperative for us to shape our life by having an interest in our future. We should aim high and everyday we must be satisfied where we’ve reached. Our everyday experiences and decisions will prepare us for a rewarding future. We must have concern for others and always be loyal to our dependence on prayers.

With the weight of modernity in the contemporary era, there is a possibility for our culture to be rooted out and destroyed. We must, therefore, not surrender to the force of secularization. Holding on to our heritage, we’re obligated to accept our culture the way it is and strive to integrate it in a healthy manner. We must strive in every way to get hold of our goals. It is essential for us to be open to new initiatives and be selective to good ideas. Lastly, as youth, we must be committed to be available as missionaries not just in our vicinity but also to others in order to enlarge the Movement.

Holy Mass:

The Holy Mass was celebrated by Most Rev. Fr. Thomas Menamparambil, Archbishop of Guwahati. In the homily, His Grace shared with us how imperative it is for us as youth to renew our trust in the Lord and with intensity in our service to the Movement we need to display love and share our energies with others surrounding us.

Session by Siljo Thomas, JY National Coordinator:

Siljo Thomas, JY National Coordinator, shared with us how Jesus Youth witness the relevance of Jesus and His Church. The six pillars that are Prayer, Word of God, Sacraments, Fellowship, Options for the Poor, and Evangelization are inevitable for us to have them exercised in life to live an active Catholic lifestyle. He also shared how in life’s circumstances we struggle to allot ourselves to the Lord, retorting to the tests of the world. The Movement helps youngsters encounter Jesus in their lives and live the beauty of the encounter.

Music Ministry:

The Music Ministry, which was anointed with the Holy Spirit, composed of 12 powerful singers and musicians from Kerala, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. Under the aegis of Shejin, the energetic team supported the NCM by helping us praise and worship God in the most exalting and glorifying way.

Audio Visual Ministry:

The Audio Visual Ministry, under the aegis of Umesh Nair, presented compassionate skits handing over the significance of Jesus as our Companion, which astounded and reassured each participant of Jesus’ love for them.

Food Ministry:

The Food Ministry, under the aegis of Jinson, consisted of 15 committed members hailing from Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. For the first time, not depending on catering services, the volunteers jointly cooked food by using their talents for the glory of God. In a way, the Food Ministry gave path for participants to ease out and be themselves. The delightful food nourished and sustained our strength to stay energetic and worship the Lord with our mind, body and soul.

Intercession Ministry:

The Intercession Ministry sheltered the success of the NCM through fasting, constant prayers, chain prayers, night vigils and lastly the three day 24/7 fervent intercession by the devoted intercessors. Having the privilege to practice our faith, through divine intervention, each participant had a taste of the goodness and wisdom of God.

Conclusion:

As the meet concluded, the participants carried back a very important message that it is quite effortless in this ultramodern world to be controlled by negative influences, but the very knowledge of our departure from sin has paved a way for us to greet freedom in Christ. People and circumstances around are no different from before. It is only “I” who has changed, for the better. In order to see a change we must be the change, by remaining committed to practicing the constants and seeking spiritual guidance. Setting out on being bold to speak the truth and share our faith let us walk the avenue with our Companion-Jesus.

Christ HIMSELF, will allow us to have a sturdy and pure relationship with God. With most reverence for the Lord, we shall lead a holy and true life walking in righteousness through guidance by the Holy Spirit.

Freedom belongs to Generation Christ.

Interpretation of Acts 1.1 – 1.8 { Catholic Christian community bible }

• 1.1 Throughout the Book of the Acts, the apostles affirm that they are "witnesses of the resurrection of Jesus" (2:32; 3:15; 5:32; 10:41; 13:31…). This testimony is not based on vague sentiments or doubtful visions, but on the "proofs" that Jesus gave to his apostles after his resurrection and which are echoed in the gospels.

The reference to the forty days is important. Inspired by the number of weeks – forty – which the child spends in its mother's womb, the symbolic number forty indicates both the time of trial or growth and that of maturity: it is the time of waiting for new life. During forty days in the desert, Jesus prepared himself for his mission of Savior; during forty days the apostles will prepare themselves for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and for their mission of witness. It is in Jerusalem that the apostles will receive the baptism in the Spirit that will make them into new people. The Spirit that hovered over the waters (Gen 1:2) during the first days of creation, will descend upon them and inaugurate the new dispensation. The Church of which they will be the "pillars" will be first and above all the work of the Holy Spirit. It is in the Spirit that the apostles will find the strength to be witnesses of the Risen One in the very midst of the world.

You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, throughout Judea and Samaria, even to the ends of the earth. Luke outlines here the geographic framework of the Book of Acts (see Introduction to the Acts of the Apostles). At the same time, he demonstrates how the dynamic of the Old Testament is reversed with the death and resurrection of Jesus.

PASSION…. FOR HIM (JY Hyd Growth Retreat 2009)

Jesus Youth Hyderabad organized its 4th annual growth retreat from 8th-10th May, 2009 at Birdy, led by Fr. Vincent, national director of the YCS/YSM. A total of 23 JY members attended the retreat.The retreat commenced at 8 pm on the 8th of May with Rosary and was followed by P&W.

In the first session Fr. Vincent concentrated upon the meaning of a growth retreat. The focus should shift from ‘self’ to ‘GOD’ and we need to transmit to others what we have received in our journey with God. The second session after dinner focused upon the role of the Holy Spirit, which father explained with the example of Moses from the Old Testament.

The second day started at 6:30 am with P&W. Father explained that the best way to recognize the voice of God is to get familiar with it. He helped the participants categorize the gifts of the Holy Spirit into Inward, Outward and Manward virtues. At 10:45 am the Holy Mass was celebrated. In the second session the participants did a run-through on the life of Job. By quoting verses from the book of Job, father explained how Job was defocused and how God refocused him. Pre-lunch father also detailed upon two other characters from the New Testament Bartimaeus and Zacchaeus.
Post lunch the first session was on the ‘Purpose of Christian life’.

Fr. Vincent explained in detail the 7 cardinal sins that a Christian needs to be wary of. 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm was a time for personal reflection given to the participants. Facilities for confession were arranged during the same time. During the session that began at 6:00 pm father elaborated on ‘Who is a disciple’. He explained the terms ‘Traditional disciple’ and ‘Biblical disciple’ and brought out the difference between the two. Father made the participants understand that the mission of a disciple is to ‘make disciples’. We then had a beautiful time of adoration which was followed by dinner.

The third day began with P&W at 6:30 am. In the first session, the life of Saul was detailed upon from the book of Samuel. Through the life story of Saul father explained how God delights more in obedience than in sacrifices. The second session focused on ‘Discipleship’. Father explained with examples that while making disciples one should ensure that they should be made disciples of God and not of the one who is making them disciples. Father also listed down the qualities of a disciple and explained the same in detail to the participants. Father also helped the participants understand that it is important to ‘Bring God to his people’ and not to ‘Take people to God’. At 10:45 am the Holy mass was celebrated and offered specially for the participants of the retreat.

The third session of the day was on Faith and Wisdom. Through many references to the Bible father helped the participants understand the meaning of these two gifts of the Holy Spirit. Post lunch, a group discussion was organized wherein each participant recognized an area where she/he needs to work the most on in their journey to make disciples for Christ. During the last session of the day each participant shared her/ his personal experience during the growth retreat and also on their association with Jesus Youth.

The participants also expressed their gratitude for the facilities arranged for them at Birdy for the retreat to be conducted.
On all three days, hymns and action songs were taken up at regular intervals to keep the retreat lively. The participants were urged to maintain as much of silence as possible.

Each of the participants left from Birdy at 6:00 pm with a renewed zeal to reach out to the people of God and to make disciples.

BLESSINGS’09-get drenched, a retreat by the youth for the youth, was an answer to the prayer and patient wait of 5yrs, the first of its kind in the twin cities, of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

This retreat indeed proved to be a great BLESSING in many lives. With about 280 people participating from 40 different parishes from the twin cities, this retreat was conducted at St. Francis College -Begumpet from 23rd - 26th Jan.

DAY 1 := Opening Day

The retreat started with a skit and then later continued with the sharing of Br. Alphonse, who is not only a prominent member of the REX Band but also, is a famous music director from the Malayalam film industry.

Bro. Alphose’s preaching revolved around Love & Fullness of life. His teachings were inspired by the verses 1John.4: 8, Matt.6: 33, Philip.3: 7, and 1 Cor.15: 19. The day then continued with the sharing of Br. Joseph, a renowned assistant director in the Malayalam film industry.

Both these individuals greatly inspired the participants and despite being busy with their respective professional demands, the duo chose to come down to Hyderabad from Kerala and live in our midst to share their experiences and spread the Word of God.

The evening ended with the sharing of facts from the Holy Quran by Br. Mario, an acclaimed preacher from the Divine Center in Potta, Kerala. Br.Mario was a former Maulavi-a Muslim cleric. At 18 he was one of the youngest clerics in our country. What was most inspiring was his claims to have found the answers regarding his doubts about the “One And Only True God” through the Quran. He stated that the Quran greatly praised and appreciated the works of JESUS the REDEEMER. And because of this he was inspired to know more about JESUS which later forced him to go to POTA and join the bible study classes.

His sharing left many amazed and were driven to consider the fact that when a Staunch Muslim believer could so greatly believe in Christ, where did one stand in terms of faith, in spite of being born and brought up in a Christian families. With this thought the first day came to an end leaving most of the participants eager to experience the love of Christ.

DAY 2 := GOD’s LOVE

“When I praise God nothing happens to God but something good happens to me.”

The second day started of with Praise and Worship by Bro. Alphonse . When he said these words, everyone was greatly moved and the initial hesitancy to praise GOD vanished and they praised God freely. Bro .Mario whose sessions were greatly awaited, then further continued the session. He explained hat -We are all the children of GOD, created out of love. We have a GOD who stands by us till the End of Times; We share a Father-Child Relation with GOD, which is contrary to the Master-Slave Relation quoted in the Quran. Bro.Mario continued to speak to us about loving one’s own enemy even though wounded.

Following this session there was Holy Mass. Unlike other masses this mass was different and really caught our attention, as there was an inclusion of power point slides, which supported father’s sermon. “God gives the best to those who leave the choices to him” was the tag line. After some time of break Bro Adolf, the elder of Jesus youth –Hyderabad spoke to us about the importance of knowing the Word Of God.

“There are 8000 promises in the bible!!!” he told us. As the day progressed, we got to see more of Bro. Mario’s powerful preaching.

He specified about the various kinds of spirits that were quoted in the bible… Isa.19:14 is about the Spirit of confusion; Isa.29:10 is about the Spirit of deep sleep; Mark.9:17, 25 is about the Spirit of muteness & deafness; 2Tim.1:7 Spirit of fear; Acts.16:16; Mark .1:21; Luke.13:11; 1Kings.22:22.

He also stated that the bible also provides the remedies needed to heal wounds that are both spiritually and physically inflicted. He gave us these verses, and asked us to remember them in times of crises-2Cor.5:11; 1Peter.2:24; Gal.3:1-13; 2Cor.8:9 .The evening ended with more testimonies from Bro. Vijay and Bro. Rodney followed by the adoration

DAY 3 := INNER HEALING

The day started at 7:00.a.m, with a complete series of action songs and praise and worship rejuvenating the souls. Later the participants were shown a clipping by Br. Rodney on “I Am Confused”. He further added that this situation could be avoided if we had the sense of Self Worth.

Br. Rajan then continued and told us that we could receive Abundant Graces from God if we are obedient. He gave everyone the following quotes John.10:10, 35; Ps.6:5; Rom.6:16; Jer.23:29, and asked the participants to derive strength from them when weak and in despair.

The next session was an important session that left everyone speechless. It was a series of clippings on the most controversial topic till date “Abortion & Euthanasia” :Isa.43: 4 says ‘You Are Precious To Me” and this verse conveys that we have no right to destroy or kill God’s creation. This program was an initiative of JY’s Prolife Ministry. Post lunch we had a beautiful session on confession by Bro Rhodney, who explained to us the meaning and purpose of confession. Many of us youth, had a good confession after a very long time, as it was then that we got to know the real meaning of confession.

Holy Mass followed which was celebrated by Fr. Sagairaj in the evening. The sermon was based on the lines of the Prodigal Son. This was followed by a time of divine healing which was lead by Fr. Cyril, “I will provide all the needs of your heart”, says the Lord, this verse when read out during the healing session brought great hope to many. This session enabled everyone to feel the power of the Holy Spirit. It also made everyone thirst more for God. Every single soul rejoiced, as they got drenched in the Redeemer’s Spirit. Many youngsters were healed and anointed by the Holy Spirit.

DAY 4 := HOLY SPIRIT INFILLING

The last Day of the retreat, started of with an enriching experience of Praise and Worship by Bro Adolf Goldwyn. The participants were told about the importance of personal prayer by Bro Rodney, after which they were asked to spend some time in prayer. Later Br. Rodney emphasized on the six aspects of JY-PRAISE, which means

P - Praise
R - Repentance
A - Adoration
I -Intercession
S - Supplication
E - Evaluate.

During the later part of the day there was Infilling Of The Holy Spirit led by Father Vijay, and since most of us witnessed such a session for the first time as they were greatly moved by it. Following this session there was Holy Mass celebrated by Father Solomon, during which everyone were greatly able to experience Christ after the Infilling.

After a break time, there was a skit based on the story of Happy Prince; the skit was beautifully conducted and helped the participants to praise GOD for his goodness.

Following this session Bro Rodney spoke about the six pillars of JY. Another speaker -Bro Manoj , a important member of National Catholic Charismatic Youth Movement, who spoke about the importance of Fellowship, Bro Vijay the Coordinator of JY –Hyderabad, continued the session giving an orientation about what JY is, and how being a part of JY fellowship will help grow in faith. He later divided the participants according to their parishes and asked them to discuss plans about the future in continuing the prayer mission in their respective parishes after which everyone shared their thoughts. A small prayer after this then brought down the curtains on Blessings.

These four days were drenched in prayer, sharing, and spiritually enriching messages. So inspiring were the messages that everyone truly believed that they are the “Chosen“ ones, and the answers to all the questions one faces in life lies in the Holy Bible. At the end of it all everyone believed that reading the word of God and meditating upon it, would enable them to witness ‘God’s Grace In their Lives’, something that the youth craved for and just couldn’t get enough of.

What kept us glued to our seats moreover was the creative display of the stage for every session. The creativity and ambience created on stage added to the spiritual environment and helped us stay focused without getting distracted.

BLESSING was an inspiration, an experience, an encounter to know GOD and HIS immeasurable love, a time to reconcile and forgive and the hope to live on with our helper the Holy Spirit to seek HIS guidance, HIS BLESSINGS always and move on ………

Explore’09 a JY Hyderabad teens ministry initiative, was a retreat conducted for the students of 8th, 9th & 10th class of St. Ann’s High School-Secunderabad on 7th and 8th of February-2009

The program started off at 9.00am on 7th morning with action songs. This was followed by an Ice breaking session wherein the participants got to know more about themselves. Immediately after the Ice breaking session Russell led the students into a small time of worship.

This time of worship helped prepare the students for the next session, which was taken by Vignan. He spoke to the students about “God’s Love “ for the entire mankind. The clipping of the “bridge” presented during this session touched everyone.

The second session was on the topic of Obedience, taken by Vandana. A very interactive session, wherein many participants shared a lot about themselves. This session was a great motivation for many.

After a break for lunch, Fr.Vijay from Suraram colony parish celebrated Holy Mass. This was then followed by a group activity where the participants were divided into small groups. Each group was given a parable to enact. The students came forward with a lot of creativity and humility. They were so spontaneous in everything that they were doing on stage that it was really touching for many of us elders.

After this wonderful activity, Lucy Akka took the next session on “Sin & Repentance”. For this session, all the teachers, nuns and volunteers around were asked to sit in the adoration chapel. Since this session was the most important session for all the participants as it helped them have a meaningful introspection in to their lives. After this session the participants expressed the feeling that their heart have become less burdened and freer.

Immediately after the session we had Adoration conducted by Brother Adolf . For this
time of adoration, the stage was decorated in a special way in order to create the necessary ambience that would help the participants focus on the LORD. At this wonderful time, Bro Adolf took the participants into a time of commitment and surrendering. Many participants cried and shed out their tears and were greatly touched by the lord’s awesome presence.
The day hen concluded with a decade of rosary after dinner.

2nd day
The second day started at 7.00am with a small prayer. After the prayer, Prashanth Veneer took all the teens to a silent place. He asked them to listen to spend time in prayer alone and listen to the Lord’s call in silence. He stressed on the importance of Listening and not just hearing God’s call.

After a break for breakfast, Vijay took the next session on
Responsibility. He stressed more on aspects like
“How I as a student am responsible for myself, my studies, my parents, my life etc”? Most of the participants then shared their experiences about their family situations.

After the break, Russell started music and had some more Action songs.

This was followed by a talk on “Prayer”; by Vignan. He clearly explained aspects like “How to pray, how to be in the presence of the lord, etc”? After the session, the participants became a little more serious regarding their Prayer life.

Immediately after the session, the teens were asked to sit in groups. There was a group activity wherein a story was told to the participants, after which some questions were asked. The story was about “Broken Pot”. In this session, the participants had a great time-sharing their personal experiences.

After lunch and small time of worship we had mass celebrated by Fr.Philip. After which we had a powerful hour of “Infilling of the Holy Spirit” led by Adolf Bro. During this time of Infilling, one could really experience the powerful presence of the Lord. There were many who gave testimony about their powerful experience with the LORD.
With this, the retreat came to an end.

All Glory to God who led us so mightily throughout this retreat.

Dear all,
Praise God!!!
Continuing in the spirit of hope, preparation & longing for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, we- the JY Hyd came once again to celebrate the Lord's day with God's children at St. Francis college from 2.45pm onwards.

MC of the day Sachith started off with a small activity of finding out new things about the people in the group. It was fun with people scrambling around to find out unknown facts about our bros n sis in Christ.

Sr.Mary supported by Vignan on guitar led this time the praise & worshop session. True to her style & the presence of Spirit, she led us into a very powerful time of praise which prompted the people to join in wholeheartedly and subsequently worship the Lord with full heart, mind & soul .No one realized that 45mins went by in the presence of the lord.

Today we continued our preparation for advent by studying bible in groups. The gospel reading of the day mark1: 1-8 was taken up for study. After sharing n reflecting in groups, each group shared what they can take back for their life from the verse. Its as follows:

1.Getting out of comfort zone like John the Baptist for Christ.
2.Discovering the hope in people around us & answering their hope by giving them Christ.
3.Have to be present at the right place to give Jesus to others.
4.Be like John to atleast one person around us i.e. preparing one to receive Jesus in their lives.

If last time we burned slips offering our self to Christ, then this time we took 3 slips each to play Secret Santa to 3 other people during this Christmas time. We have to pray for these 3 people and keep it a secret till Christmas. If possible we can do any creative things for that person.

Central Prayer Group-November 30th

Praise God!!!
Last Sunday which was the first Sunday of Advent, we all came together to prepare ourselves for this season at the CPG (Central Prayer Group).

After starting off with the rosary at 2.45pm, Preethi led us into a beautiful time of Praise & Worship supported in music by Adolf cheta. She asked us to keep the coming of Jesus in mind during the Praise & Worship time as Advent means coming or arrival.

After the P & W, Bro Gordon Morris took a session on Advent based on Word of God & church perspectives and also what it means to each one of us, our communities etc. Finally he led us into a personal exercise of self-purification as a preparation for this Advent season. Below are some of the major points from his prayerful & informative session:

1. The word Advent means "coming" or "arrival." Advent is the beginning of the Church Year for most churches in the Western tradition. It begins on the fourth Sunday before Christmas Day, which is the Sunday nearest November 30, and ends on Christmas Eve (Dec 24).

2. The focus of the entire season is the celebration of the birth of Jesus the Christ in his First Advent, and the anticipation of the return of Christ the King in his Second Advent. Scripture reading for Advent will reflect this emphasis on the Second Advent, including themes of accountability for faithfulness at His coming, judgment on sin, and the hope of eternal life.

3. Advent symbolizes the spiritual journey for us as individuals. So that we live in a way that symbolizes that that the Kingdom Of God is at hand. This implies that our lives are holy living as we live "between the times" and are called to be faithful stewards of what is entrusted to us as God's people.

4. Advent is marked by a spirit of expectation, of anticipation, of preparation, of longing. It is a yearning for deliverance from the evils of the world, as was first expressed by Israelite slaves in Egypt as they cried out from their bitter oppression.

5. Pope Benedict XVI 12/11/08 says, “Paul speaks of this return of Jesus, called the parousía, the advent, the new and definitive and manifest presence (cf.1 Thes 4:13-18)”. In other words, the awaiting of the parousía of Jesus does not dispense with the work of this world, but on the contrary, makes us aware of our responsibilities before God regarding our way of acting in this world. It is a call to prepare for the Day of the Lord.

6. Pope Benedict tells us "Advent is a time to be in close contact with God, the one who knows and loves mankind and that it is necessary to be in contact with God. God knows us, he knows me, he knows all of us, he loves me, and he won't leave me."(5/12/07)

Personal Reflection

• After having examined the various aspects of the waiting for the parousía of Christ, we need to ask ourselves:

1. What is my fundamental attitude as a Christian toward the last things -- death and the end of the world?

2. Is my attitude one of certainty that Jesus has risen, is with the Father, and because of that, is with us forever? And no one is stronger that Christ, because he is with the Father, who is with us?

3. Do we live in fear of final judgment or are we conscious of being in Christ at all times and because of this, we are secure and free of fear?

4. As a Christian, Christ has left us the task of living in this world according to his way of living. If I am in Christ does my life reflect the light of Christ to my family, my neighbors and to the world?

5. Christ has given us talents; what is our attitude and responsibility toward the world, toward our brothers and sisters in the Church and the world?

6. Is this Advent and Christmas going to be just like all the others or is there going to be a change?

Personal Exercise
What is that one thing that is a block to my intimacy with Jesus and the coming of His Kingdom?
Each one of us wrote one aspect, which is blocking us from the love of Jesus and burned the paper in front of all. This is was our Christmas gift for Christ Jesus.

Overall it has been a wonderful start for our advent preparations. We will be continuing advent thoughts in the coming week also.

Ministry Gathering Meet

The Ministry Team Gathering was conducted from 22nd November evening to 23rd November evening.

Number of participants: 25

Day 1 (22nd November-Saturday)
The MC for the day was Sachith

As per the schedule the meeting with the rosary led by George Bro at 5:30 PM.

Then there was a time of personal sharing. Each member was asked to introduce himself or herself and had to share about how they spend the day and a small sharing on how their week was. Based on this there was a question answer session in which one person would ask a question based on the sharing and others should give the answer. The star of this session was our Besto Bro who exhibited his brilliance by answering almost 90% of the questions and asking some wonderful questions.

This was followed by a time of fun. We played the musical chair. There were some great performances by Shibu Bro, Nidheesh but again, the person who stole the show was Besto Bro with his Dancing skills. This continued till 7:10PM

The next one hour, we spend in the presence of the Lord. We had a beautiful time of adoration lead by our elders Lucy and Adolf Goldwyn.
At 8:15 PM we went for dinner.

Assembling back at 9:15 PM, we had an action song followed by individual sharing on "why we are here and what is our expectation out of this program". A briefing followed this on the purpose of the program.

The day ended at 9:45 PM and with the announcement of being back the next day by 6:30 AM.

Day 2 (23rd November-Sunday )
The MC for the day was George Chettan.

6:30 AM - After getting ourselves out of sleep by dancing for the Lord (Action song), we spend the next 30 minutes in Praise and Worship lead by Prashanth.

This was followed by a time of Personal prayer.

At 7:30 AM we had our breakfast.

8:30 AM we had our 1st session of the day by Adolf Bro on "God's WILL"
To have Complete trust in him
To be where our Lord want us to be,
are some of the points the session was focused on.

After the 45 minutes session we had an activity to know ourselves better and to evaluate our spiritual life. A "CHECKLIST OF A CHARISMATIC LEADER" was distributed and we had to answer the questions in that and evaluate ourselves.
George Bro coordinated this.
There was a discussion on some of the questions also.

10:30 a.m. we took a Tea break.

We all assembled back at 10:45 AM. Action songs kept us energetic and active.
The 2nd session of the day started at 10:55AM.
" Setting priorities, Knowing Will Of God, Balancing, Comfort Zone".
This was an interactive session coordinated by Shibu Bro.

The question on setting priorities in life was asked to Lucy Chechi
"God is number 1 priority in my life everything else is 2nd and 3rd " .Lucy Chechi
The main focus point was to give GOD No:1 position in our life.
Adolf Bro's testimony strengthened this point further.

The Next question was on " How to know the will of GOD" , this was answered by Sr Mary
"When you are in deep love with a person you know his/her likes and dislikes without the other person telling you. Similarly if we are in deep love with God we will know his will" ...Sr Mary
Always seek the will of god, for even the smallest thing. This was the focus of the sharing that went on.

"Balancing ministry activities and studies and other day today activities" was what Prashant was sharing on.
" I have not lost anything because I got involved in JY activities in fact it has helped me grow more. My memory power has been strengthened, my communication skills have improved and JY elders have guided me and helped me be a better student.From an average student to a good student" ... Prashant
Focus of the discussion-Being a JY we have to be the best in whatever we are .

"What is Comfort zone and how do we tend to be in this comfort zone " This was the question that was asked to Vignan.
Focus point - Don't be in your comfort zones. Challenge yourselves to go forward and take up responsibilities.

The whole session was summarised by Adolf Bro.

At 1:00 PM we went for Lunch and we were back by 1:30 PM.

The next was ministry level updates and sharing.
All the team members sat with their respective teams and had a planning session for the activities for the next 6 months.
The entire session was for 2 hours.

This was Followed by Holy Mass at 3:30 PM celebrated by Fr Vijay ( Youth Director).
During the Mass the names of the new coordinators for the ministries were announced.
Following which the anointment of the coordinator and team were done.

Praise God!
Greetings from the central prayer group of JY Hyderabad!

Last Sunday the JY Hyd family once again came together to experience a time of prayer, worship & fellowship.

This time the praise & worship was beautifully led by Sheeba, a student of Vijay Marie nursing college. She was fully backed by the entire girls from Vijay Marie; they supported her with their melodious voices and also sang some new songs. In fact they led it so well, that we all felt the urge to praise & thank God for his blessings in our life.

Fr.Bosco, who had just come back from a trip to Kandhamal a district in Orissa, took the second session. For those who are not aware the kandhamal distict in Orissa was greatly affected by communal violence recently .The Christians were constantly tortured through violence and harassed by the communal forces there.

Fr.Bosco’s sharing and subsequent video presentation was very heart touching. The real facts were far more shocking and heart moving than the news we were fed from media. Father joined a medical team from Bangalore to gain access to the affected area.

The conflict that is portrayed in Orissa is not between the tribals and dalits as portrayed by Bajrang dal and RSS but is a well-planned and well-coordinated attack on Christians. The Christians were helping poor people to come out of slavery, that they were bound in for ages, this disturbed the rich very much. So they were waiting for a chance to drive the Christians away. Swami Lakshamanandas,who himself is charged with several cases gave them the chance they were eagerly waiting for.

Fr also stressed the need for standing united before the perpetrators, something that was lacking among Catholics of that place. Several priests from that area and from Hyderabad also are coming together and trying to figure out how to handle this situation effectively in future.

The team from Hyderabad have also decided to gift an amount of Rs 5000 as Christmas gift to each Christian family in Orissa.Father urged, all those who wee interested to come forward and contributefor this mission. He also requested prayers for the families in Orissa as the VHP and RSS have called for bandh on Christmas. Not only this they attacked the Christians, last Christmas also. Fr. right fully urged us all to pray and stay courageous as this can happen to us at anytime. He even invited us to come and stay over at kandhamal for a weekend for helping them.

As a catholic youth movement JY is also trying to help out bhuvaneshwar. Both the JY coordinator and asst.coordinator visited bhuvansehswar and talked to bishops and priests of that place. An adoration center is opened for the same. Also a group of 10people went from kerala to build houses for them for free.

LISTEN’O8-Jeremiah 29:13 “Listen you will find me”

About 320 Catholic, Christian and Non-Catholic students along with the non teaching staff of St.Francis College for Women, Begumpet, gathered together from October 31st to November 2nd, 2008 for a Retreat based on the Word of God, conducted by Jesus Youth of Hyderabad.

The Retreat began with a story of a musical concert. Begalin, a violinist, completed one of his musical concerts with just one string on the violin, leaving the audience in awe. In the same way, we have just one beautiful life. And this one life of our’s matters most, whether we’re dynamic or not. We’re all conceived in the sight of the Lord’s mind even before we were formed in our mother’s womb. In spite of all our sinfulness and broken heartedness, we are all special in the sight of the Lord, because we are unworthy but are made worthy by the Lord.

The violin was in the hand of the master musician. In our lives, we’re in the hands of the Master Musician-Jesus. It doesn’t matter what you have. Just one thing matters-“Where You Are Placed”. With this story in mind the 3 day retreat continued with the following themes, put forth by the preacher.

Word of God: The Word Of God is full of God’s promises and is all about His love for us. We need to see, hear, touch and experience the Word of God. The Word of God heals, changes and gives life. There are words of consolation in the Word of God. John 6:63-“My words are spirit and life”.

We cannot cherish the Word of God unless we know and are hungry and thirsty for it. Those who love Jesus will keep His word. We need to find and experience the treasure-The Word “Jesus”.

Faith and the love of God are closely related. Faith transforms our lives and makes us new. God’s love is beautiful and holy.

Today, we’re asking darkness to hide our inner selves. The lord wants us to listen and open our inner selves to Him. Faith is the experience of the love of god.

Obedience: Today we’re not able to listen to the voice of God and be obedient because we’re in a noise (the world is speaking to us). Obedience and faith are the two sides of the same coin.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for. Faith, which needs to be functioning in our lives, is the evidence (in God’s Word) of things unseen. We believe that God is a faithful God and so we believe that God has an unseen blessing for each one of us. Christ like faith or Christian faith is when we believe and then we see. Our actions prove our faith (like Abraham’s sacrifice). Faith should please God (like Enoch). Exercising faith means we are obeying the Lord. We cannot compartmentalize obedience from faith. When we obey the inspiration of God, we are pleasing God and so our faith is operative.

Without obedience we cannot have faith. Obedience puts our faith into action. Obedience is inspiration of the Holy Spirit, which is the voice of the Lord. It helps us move away from the noise of the world.The Word of God is connected with obedience. We have to tie the Word of God around our neck. When we by heart the Word of God, it becomes a part of our life and obedience becomes easier. With obedience comes the abundance of blessings.

Personal Prayer:Prayer is an intimate conversation and communication with God. When you pray you can expect miracles. We need to come before the Lord with an open, humble and repentant heart. We need to be persistent in our prayers. Prayer, which is the greatest gifts, requires commitment. Nothing on this earth is more powerful than a person at prayer.

10 commandments: God never stops his blessings. It is we who put a block in His way. Many a times we miss out the greatest blessings of God because we hold on to our selfish desires and personal pleasures.

The wages of sin is death. Suffering is a process of purification. We cannot escape the consequences of sin. Dynamics of sin: Sin has a pleasure principle working behind it. There is first a desire to commit sin. Every sin has the power to captivate or attract. Sin begins in the mind. Today we’re in a series of bondage.

Humans have a choice to exercise their freedom, to choose to do good or evil. If we love the father we will not love the world.

The greatest problem today’s humanity is facing is…there is a loss of the sense of sin.

Testimony by Br.Mario from Kerala: Suleman, a born Muslim, who consecrated himself to Allah when he was eight years old, completed all the Islamic studies and achieved M.F.D-the highest degree in Islam.

As he grew up reading the Holy Quran, he realized that the Quran could not provide for his unanswerable doubts about Jesus, Mother Mary, and Prophet Mohammad. He was inspired to read the Holy Bible when he was taken back by a verse in the Quran which mentions that if at any point you have a doubt on what is written in the Quran, one could refer the Holy Bible.
After constantly praying and reading the Holy Bible he was convinced that Jesus is the Living Lord.

Today, this faithful Christ follower, who was once a Muslim Priest, has converted himself into a Catholic calling himself Mario Joseph, and is being used mightily by Jesus as a witness for the last 10 years.

He shared with us that the one who came on Earth is the Word of God. Jesus, who is the Spirit of God, is the Word of God. Jesus is the only Son of God and only those who receive and believe in the name of the only Son of God have the right to become children of God, because those who are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God.

Session on the Holy Spirit: Without the Holy Spirit we cannot live our spiritual life. The Holy Spirit is the gift of Jesus. We lay our foundation for tomorrow’s future. Our spiritual foundation has to be a strong foundation. Every human is soul, mind and body. God created us this way. But today, the body, which is controlled by the world, Satan and the fleshy desires, wants to control the mind and thus the mind becomes a slave to the body and the soul gets tainted. Sin has entered into us reversing the entire system and we need to change it by realizing and getting back our original identity by being ‘holy’. The Holy Spirit controls our holiness.

Inner healing Session: Was a time of grace where the awesome presence of the Lord was felt mightily. Almost all of them received the grace and gift to forgive. They were so many who received the gift of joy, the true joy that comes only from the Lord. So many had seen visions and a few healings took place.

Determination is a must for our spiritual life. God has kept a gift (Eternal life) for us and we need to run for it. We need to train our body and mind so that we can attain eternal life. The ultimate goal is to live as a child of God. Each one of us is called to do something, as we’re all pilgrims journeying on this earth, which isn’t our permanent place. On the way of this journey, we’re preparing ourselves in a distinct and clear way to reach to our goal.

At the end of the Retreat, the students and non-teaching staff of St.Francis comprehended the love of God and cherished the spiritual endeavor they gathered for as children in the presence of the Lord.

For those who missed CPG on 5TH October, we had a beautiful time of prayer and a stimulating activity hour. Rajini our full timer led the praise and worship, this praise and worship was something very different, and nice.

Rajini led it in Hindi and English and it was not just one person praying but the entire group who joined in to pray together.

After the Praise and worship we had a group discussion. The group was divided into 5 sub-groups and each group discussed about Saint Paul’s vocation.

These were the main aspects taken from the material on St Paul’s life and Vocation that really got the entire group thinking

“It is amazing that Paul an unrelenting persecutor was called to be a tireless apostle. In fact every vocation is a surprise, as it is the work of God, an initiative of God; it is not based on one's merit, but pure grace.
Vocation of Paul was something, which was prepared by God. It was the God whom he and his fellow Jews had believed, who had prepared his call. It is said, “ The God of our ancestors has chosen you…” In the letter to Galatians Paul speaks in explicit terms about his vocation: “ But when God, who had set me apart before I was born and called me through his grace, was pleased to reveal his Son to me, so that I might proclaim him among the Gentiles …” (Gal 1:15). Vocation is not an isolated fact in the history of a person, but a stage in the marvelous story of God's love evolving in a person.
The expressions chosen by Paul in Gal 1:15 show his appreciation of his vocation; in fact he alludes to the vocation of prophets Jeremiah and Isaiah in these words: “ Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations” (Jer 1:5); “The L ORD called me before I was born, while I was in my mother's womb he named me. I will give you as a light to the nations, that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth.”

After some time of discussion, we concluded the CPG by praying for various intentions of the church and group members.

Once upon a time there was a man who would daily have beacon (pig meat) and boiled eggs for breakfast. One day it so happened that the hen got into an argument with the pig about “Who Served the master best? ”.

The hen boasted that she was the most sacrificing one, as she gave the Master the most precious thing she owned-Her Eggs. The pig on the other hand who was very silent all the while spoke up and said that he and his brothers laid down their life for their master everyday. He told the hen that all she had to do was share a part of herself, but he gave up everything including his life to see the master happy.

Here one can see two aspects of Christian life:

Many of us are like the hen; we are involved in a lot of spiritual work for the lord, but quit when things go wrong.
Whereas very few of us are like the pig, who are able to give the lord our all. This is called commitment, whereas the hen’s contribution is mere involvement. Hen can discontinue its involvement at any time but the pig cant turn back!

Which category do we fit in?
Are we like the hen involved in all activities of church giving our time, money everything but not committed to Christ, not being able to experience and share his love to this world or are we like the pig silently sacrificing our life for Christ- totally committed to Jesus? With this thought we entered into praise and worship led by Vijay

After praise & worship Gordon Morris who has constantly been taking up bible study for some weeks joined the group and enlightened us this Sunday again.He meditated on chapters 25 to 36 of Genesis.

Some of the major aspects he discussed upon were as follows

Story of Jacob & Esau
By birth it was destined that Jacob will rule over Esau, which was symbolically signified by Jacob holding the feet of Esau while coming out of his mother’s womb.
Esau sells his birthright for food; we also do the same in today’s world. We sell our birth right of being the child of God by compromising it for friendship, society, family, fame etc
We have BOTH saints and sinners in Church.
Will Good people go to heaven (a relevant question asked by Gordon Morris); according to him good people will never go to heaven instead people who always strive to do their best will go because people who feel they are good are happy about the way they are doing, they are more or less stagnant while the other category always thrives to do better in the presence of the lord.
Vision of the angels going up and down the ladders. Angels going back and forth through the ladder signifies the blessings coming down from heaven to earth. Just like how Jesus took the form of man to lead the human race to GOD, similarly we his disciples are also called to be Christ like by taking as many people as possible along with us to God.

Shade: Orientation Programme

The program named Shade was organized by the adhilabad youth ministry. JY-hyd was invited by Fr.Baiju (adhilabad youth director) to lead the second and third orientation program for the 10th class students. Br. Joy was part of the resource team.

We started the day with action songs, a welcome skit and then leading them to a short personal prayer. This was led by both Prashanth Veneer and Prashanth Khammam. After breakfast Pradeep led the students into praise and worship. The first session was about God’s love and establishing a personal relationship with Jesus which was led by prashanth(Arts). A video showing a father sacrificing his son for the safety of others was also shown. Later Besto bhai shared his testimony on how he experienced God’s love in his personal life. This was followed by Holy Mass (Syro Malabar) in telugu.

After lunch break at 2.30PM we came together for group acitivity and to know more about God given talents and how to utilize it for the lord. This session was led by Joychan and Prashanth (Khammam). A video of a physically challenged boy who goes around the world evangelizing was heart moving. Tea break was also utilized for games. By 6pm everyone were back for adoration & inner healing session led by Pradeep and Prashanth. In this session different aspects of our life like parents, friends, church, personal were brought out and surrendered at the feet of Jesus. Some of the students broke out before the lord crying. After dinner rosary was recited and then a short session on JY was given. Prashanth explained about teens ministry, campus ministry, fooltimership & also about the 6 pillars of jy.

The program was completely in telugu and the students responded very well considering the fact that it was their first experience with JY for most of them. Constant intercession which is the backbone of JY helped us to lead the session amid confusions like lack of planning, lack of mic till evening and constant power offs. We thank and praise the holy spirit for leading us through this wonderful day.

Persevere in the Lord

The program started with a time of music by the music ministry of hyderabad led by Banarjee.

Later we had an introduction by vijay. After the introduction we had some action songs. And an ice breaker. The ice breaker was about all the students forming into groups of kitchen articles,house hold articles,village articles, countries and universe. We wanted to let them know that each and every part in the universe is so unique and precious and all together form this beautiful universe. Later we spent some time in praising God.

Then we had Holy Eucharist celebrated by Fr BalReddy and he spoke about the "Perseverance in the Lord". At around 8.00 pm we had our dinner and returned back by 9.00 pm. At 9.00 pm we had the camp fire lighted on with 2 flood lights giving us all the more light we needed. All the students who were around 150 were divided into 4 teams and each were asked initially to define a name and an action for their group and then each group was asked to enact a story from the Bible.The storied given were 1. story of the prodigal son, 2. Story of jonah, 3.parable of talents and 4. Lazaraus raising from the dead. This way each and every group took time to perform the skits and each of them have done very beautifully. During this time after each skit Sr. Mary gave a brief talk for about 2 minutes depending upon the skit performed. Then we had the jericho prayer by reciting the rosary and went through the corridors of the college and finally entered the hall where the hall is beautifully decorated for the adoration. Then we had the adoration for about half an hour and ended the day at around 11.30 pm.

Next day is Palm Sunday and so we started with the Holy mass at 7.30 am. After breakfast around 9.30 am we started the program with some action songs. Then we had a session by Sr. Mary on the subject “Relationship with GOD” followed by a video cliping which emphasises that God has sent his only son into this world to save all of us. Then we had a small break. After the break we had a skit performed by some of the students of the college. After this we had another session “ Relationship with our neighbours” by Nidheesh. He emphasized on all the aspects of relationships that we encounter with others. After this we had lunch and returned back by 1.45 pm. Again we had some action songs and then we had another small session “Relationship with ourselves” by Vijay. Here vijay emphasized on self building and motivating the students that every person in this world will fall down but he need to take courage to get up again and walk with god.

Later we had a panel sharing moderated by Nidheesh . The panel was represented by Besto, Sachith, Stephan, Pradeep and Vijay. The panel sharing was revolving around the constants. As the students already new about the constants as a definition we introduced the importance of each and every constant and how it has been effective in each panel member’s life. After the panel sharing we had the adoration led by Sr. Mary which was again an another beautiful experience. Then we ended the program with few action songs. During the whole program we had a continuous adoration.

After the program we had met the active members of the college and discussed on general topics as to the requirements of the students. There were unending questions raised by the students. Later we selected the core team for the prayer group which comprised of around 10 members. After this we had a meeting with the new core team and spent some time with all of them.

Thanks for all the members who were a part of the program and all those who supported us with prayers.

Watch & Pray: Night Vigil

It was gathering of about approximately 80 to 90 mostly consisting of religious from St Teresa nursing school, nursing students, parishners and our family members of Jesus Youth. The night vigil began with rosary led by Prashanth (teens ministry), Preparation and Taizé worship led by Adolf Chetan.

The worship was filled with silent adoration, intercession, singing of psalms and thanksgiving by symbolically bowing down before the altar, not to forget the decoration carried out by Lucy chechi, Besto, Vijay and Prashanth created a beautiful atmosphere which could catch the attention of people even who were participating unwillingly. By the side isle there was confessions going on along with the night vigil. We are grateful to Fr Bala who made it possible to have confessions. At 11.00 o’clock we had Lucy Aunty session from Muthangi, which proceeded up to 12.30,we feel many would have been inspired because she is used to preaching in Telugu, but her effort and prayers helped her to speak in English and Telugu because 70 % of them were Telugu speaking .Her Session mainly Highlighted on doing things in secret. The important areas she spoke were alms giving, praying in secret and fasting.

From 12.30-12.45 we had Baiju chetan leading P&W which continued in the atmosphere of reflection and silence followed by Prince chetans two clippings bridge and passion of Christ remix which we feel really touched the people a lot, some expressed, reflected and wanted to participate in the sacrament of reconciliation in the following week. The session began at 12.55 concluded at 2.00 o’clock. Sister Edna gave more insight regarding the video clipping. She spoke on similar lines of “God’s unconditional love ” by sending his only son-Jesus! God bridged the gap between himself and man through his Son Jesus Christ by replacing SIN. Come 3 o’clock we mediated on passion of lord through the mercy chaplet. Followed by Roshan chetan’s adoration which was followed by a time of recitation of litany and finally we ended with Mass by Fr Bala. There was also a personal sharing by one of the parish member. He shared how he changed from being a person who made bombs to a praying person.

To sum up, the entire night vigil was a period of personal reflection, silence, allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to you, inspire you and guide you. There was no compulsion from external environment to get diverted during the night vigil rather we were being lead by the Holy Spirit to worship Father God more deeply.

WATCH AND PRAY

Just One: Nurses Gathering

God our creator has a purpose for each one of our lives. A pioneering programme by the Jesus Youth Nurses Ministry, Just One- One in Jesus was organized in Capitanio hall in St. Francis College on 8th March 2008 from 9am to 4pm. We had student nurses from 4 colleges from Hyderabad, around 150 girls had an opportunity to be in the presence of Jesus. Prolife ministry also took active participation in the programme. The programme was inititated by the Jesus Youth of Hyderabad, with the sole desire of proclaiming the gospel- a truly daring step to serve Christ in a unique way.

The programme was divided into 2 parts- forenoon and afternoon. At 9 o’clock we started the programme with a rosary and action songs led by vijay. The entire group was divided into pairs giving them an opportunity to mingle with a new person whom they don’t know. The main resource for the program was Vijay Sebastian, JYNT member from bangalore. The theme of the day- Just One was explained by the WOG-Acts 15:12-16. He pointed to the Just one who is protecting us all through our life and guiding us continuously. He emphasized on the expected lifestyle of a catholic nurse showing compassion and love to the patients thereby showing his/her love for Jesus. Later the whole group was divided into groups of 4 and were asked to discuss the word which they like the most.

After a small break, the 6 pillars of JY was explained which was followed by experience sharing by joby, national nurses co-ordinator. He also shared the activities done by nurses ministry in bangalore. Vijay later continued talking about human weakness of placing oneself in both boats-one of Jesus and the other of worldly pleasures. Post lunch saw a skit by nurses ministry of Hyderabad based on the theme of the program- Just One. JY was introduced in detail- its humble beginnings, growth, current situation, core grps, various ministries etc by joby. Sitting in groups according to their colleges, the girls were asked to do a small planning regarding their own college grps and nurses ministry of their colleges.

The programme came to end with a talk from Fr.Jose and a powerful adoration by Sr.Mary. It was an excellent opportunity for the nurses to understand the call in their life by Jesus. The girls also realized that its time that they respond positively to this call. We hope and pray that coming days witness more vibrant sharings and prayers days happening in Hyderabad nurses ministry. We desire that more and more nurses come to the love of Jesus through this 150 nurses so that they may witness Jesus through their profession.

Full-Timer's Gathering

Welcome to Satyodayam, the place where all the Andra Pradesh's Forerunners gathered. A long time dream of A.P. Jesus Youth. The vision of bringing all the Fulltimers together and sharing there experiences after there commitment and also re-igniting the fire of a "FULL TIMER". The Gathering was of two days 23, 24 February 2008.

During the event many have shared their stories. One among them is Sanju Bhaskar's:

"My encounter with Lord happened in Andaman and Nicobar Islands through a Charismatic Convention. And that lead me to the Fulltimers Training which took place in Delhi. My commitment place was Vijayawada Diocese. During the commitment period I had lot of zeal to work for the lord. But as the commitment period was over I got settled in my life. I even forgot that the Job that I am holding today is also something that I got because of Lord. My family Peace and Dad's turning towards the lord is also that happened just because of the Lords grace. But now I forgot all those things and became busy in my personal life and tensions. But this forerunners gathering is something that reminded me of my commitment for the lord and the thought that my commitment was just a 1 year formation and is a life long commitment that I promised to the Lord. This was the time to realize my commitment and the fact that I am no more a Forerunner instead I am a missionary."

all because we do not carry
everything to God in prayer.

2. Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
take it to the Lord in prayer.

3. Are we weak and heavy laden,
cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge;

Take it to the Lord in prayer!

thou wilt find a solace there.

These are the words we often sing so meaninglessly, just as a habit, a tune, just as another song doing all but realizing the depth and the significance it reverberates.
Most of us probably may have even skipped the lyrics on the first page on our way to get here since it rests unassumingly somewhere in our mind and we all know it by rut.
But on a second meticulous glance we would recognize that this song is a beautiful reminder of God’s love.

Each word is a beautiful description about HIS omnipotence, HIS grace, HIS love. The Growth Retreat “Galilee 2008’’ which was held at Satyodayam retreat centre from 15th-17th february was a precise, definitive inspiration based on this song.

Br. Santosh, his wife Sally and Br. Jino from the Santvahana group from Delhi lead a group of 25 members during this retreat.
The whole focus of this retreat was on developing “Personal Relationship with God”, which can be facilitated only through “Prayer”.

We so often slog our lives out for our work, family, studies and career in order to move up the ladder. But when it comes to our spiritual lives, we are so comfortable, making no extra effort to go that extra mile with the Lord. That zeal to grow one step higher in our relationship with our lord is what is missing so badly in all our lives. But when it comes to things we like doing, we work for hours, foregoing our food, our family, our personal lives and what not.
This retreat helped us realize that doing three or four program’s or attending retreats and conventions is not the way to salvation. We realized that our quest for his word should never end. It is a life long process. The choices we make, the deeds we do are determinants of the path to our salvation.

We as servants of Christ cannot afford to be satisfied with our growth in the Lord.
We, his children are called to live a life of sacrifice, commitment and evangelization.
As we prayed and meditated together each one of us got beautiful insights. These three days of introspection helped us identify the minute aspects that had became major strongholds in our lives that prevented us from doing the will of God.

The sessions on inner healing helped us remove and deal with our personal fears, lust, anger, jealousy, hatred and many other vices, which had been deeply suppressed into our unconscious. As we sat and prayed, the Holy Spirit revealed to us the areas of our life, which needed healing, and submission to the lord. Brother Santosh through a series of exercises made us physically vent out these negative feelings, which had been hampering our spiritual growth.
During this session of inner healing we were made to sit facing a wall, we were asked to close our eyes and imagine the person who hurt us real bad to be seated in front of us. The next most surprising thing we were asked to do is shout out aloud, and say all those things, which we always wanted to tell that person. Brother Santosh, asked us to just open up and just blurt out all the anger and the pain.

Though most of us were shocked initially, we realized we needed to do this to heal ourselves. He made us do a list of self-healing exercises, which brought about lot of psychological relief. During these three days we were asked to maintain silence and not talk with each other. This time of silence was extremely useful because it was the time when we really got connected with our inner selves.

Our Lord’s voice so soft and gentle, which often gets suppressed with the noise and chaos outside, could be heard then.
Brother Santosh made a very striking statement. He said ‘Prayer is an exercise of will’. This statement touched each one of us present there. This made us realize that very often we weep and wail wondering why things are not happening to us and keep blaming God and others, when in actuality we alone are causes of misery to our selves.

As much as we allow the spirit to work in us, so much only are we blessed. We forget this fact and blame the world and God for all our woes.

This three-day retreat was a process of inner purification. As a group we prayed together, stayed together and shared together. We helped each other with our insights and sharing. Each person was given individual attention during the time of counseling. We had a time of sharing where we discussed our dreams for JY.

Armed and renewed with his grace each one of us left out more confident and committed to his love. The matter preached in the retreat was not something new for us. Time and again we have heard these words but we fail to implement it. Personal Prayer is a mighty weapon, which we are blessed with. These three days was a time of personal growth, in which the “Personal Prayer” was greatly emphasized on.

Galilee 2008 was a beautiful means through which the Lord spoke to us.
As we journeyed back home the words of the song kept resounding in our minds. We just couldn’t stop thanking HIM for choosing us and being with us these three days. Indeed what a friend we all have and how lucky each one of us are.

Around thirty people gathered on February 9 to get a better clarity on the Jesus Youth lifestyle particularly to understand more about commitment. The event started with praise and worship session by our animator Br. Adolf paving the path for the next session by Rodney chetan. With his vast experience in JY took all the people into a trip down his life experiences pausing in between to stress on the key words of the day like commitment , spiritual growth etc. He shared his experience with a youth who was suffering from a serious disease.

He then went on to explain the importance of pillars of JY in our spiritual growth. Sharing the Word of God from Mark 10:17 of the story of rich man, he explained how we all JYs appear holy from outside but hold onto some possessions which we are not ready to surrender to Jesus. The need to prepare ourselves before going to lead others especially in sharing Word of God, leading praise and worship, leading music etc. is very much essential.

After lunch we divided ourselves into small groups of four each and shared our personal, spiritual n JY experiences so far. Rodney chetan again came into picture this time stressing on the need of being alert in our relationships especially between boys and girls & also the guidelines to follow while being in this ministry. Misuse of mobile phones is a new threat to the ministry as also the unhealthy relationship between JYs. Both needs to be controlled and restricted for the growth of the ministry and at times we may also have to do sacrifice for this ministry like doing away with immodest dressing, styles or any other trends which don’t project ourselves as the son/daughter of God.

After Divine Mercy Chaplet, Marina chechi shared with us the role & purpose of JY ministries. She wonderfully put the ministries as life situation ministries, talent ministries and supporting ministries. Everyone should be part of some life situation ministries like teens, campus, professionals, nurses etc. Depending on our talents we can serve in the talents and supporting ministries like intercession, music, finance etc. We also heard some sharings about the real purpose of ministries by jys who were able to share the love of jesus through music, intercession and finance.

The last session of FollowMe was discernment led by ex-hyd coordinator prakash chetan. He led us through the process of discernment through five steps namely Conformity, Consistency, Conversion, Conviction and Confirmation tests. Each one of us has to discern the will of God in our life through the process of discernment. Only then was can be successful in our life as a Jesus youth. The day came to an end with Holy Mass.

and mercy upon me.

Sweet Jesus, help me to face my exams confidently.
Take away all my tension, my worries and my anxiety,
Give me a calm mind and a calm heart.

Bless me with the grace to feel that You are always beside me
Hold my hands Lord and not me but You write my exam.

Lord send your guardian angels to protect me from all evils.
Help me O Lord! to realize that nothing is possible
without your knowledge.

Bless me sweet Jesus
Mary, seat of wisdom, intercede for me.

Family Gathering

Family Gathering is an occasion that strengthens fellowship and faith amongst believers and Hyderabad witnessed another such occasion of joy on 20 January, 2008

There were several reasons to celebrate and thank god for his abundant blessings on this day of joy. We started by giving glory and praise to our God through music and action songs. Several new members especially the teens who took part in South Asia Conference held last dec at kerala joined in the gathering. This was also one of the causes as to why we came together and thanked God for expanding our family. Ice breaking was followed by a meaningful time of Praise and Worship led by Adolf Bhaiya.

Subsequently he spoke to us about “Fellowship”. He beautifully laid out the example of fellowship enjoyed by the holy trinity wherein father, son and the spirit are bonded together in one person through divine love. Fellowship can be represented by a cross where the verticals represent our fellowship with Jesus and the horizontal representing our fellowship with others. The uniqueness of this cross is that vertical can stand alone without the support of horizontal but horizontal will fall down without the support of the vertical. In essence our fellowship with others should be based on our fellowship with Jesus and not vice versa.
In between the session Besto and Roshan were called upon to share their experiences on their fellowship with fellow human beings. While Besto shared that his fellowship with seniors, peers & juniors helped him a lot in his spiritual life, Roshan inspired us all with his experience among the poor and unwanted people of the society through his weekly visits to Mother Theresa house. He didn’t forget to remind the jys about the 6th pillar of jy --> options for the poor!!!
The entire session conveyed two important lessons, which am sure each one of us will carry forward throughout our life.

In order to be Christlike we need to share in the sufferings of Christ, which means that we need to STOP thinking about ourselves and think about our neighbors. Very often we are so engulfed in our selves that we fail to notice the needy around us. Being so overwhelmed in our self-pity we become an easy prey of the evil one’s tactics. Being a disciple in action. We need to be ready to move out of our comfort zones to reach out to the needy, the hungry, the lonely, the unfortunate and most importantly to carry out God’s will in our lives.

“Are we so busy trying to please Jesus in Heaven whom we CANT SEE, that we forget to see Jesus in our own neighbors whom we CAN SEE” is something each one of us were thinking at the end of this session.

We then broke up for lunch. Post lunch we had a fun activity conducted by “John Wilfred”- JYNT Animator, meant to honour our coordinator Shibu as he recently got married toVandana.

They spoke about their commitment towards each other which left a deep impact in each one of us. Looking at Shibu & Vandana, one couldn’t help but realize God’s abundant love for his children. A spouse’s love is a beautiful glimpse of the eternal love, our lord feels for each one of us.

This feeling was more deeply experienced as we recited the Mercy Chaplet at the divine hour. After this session of grace and prayer we split into 4 groups and enacted skits based on a theme from bible. It was real fun and we got to see a lot of creativity. Working together as groups helped us realize the importance of team work, communication and creativity in carrying out any activity. We concluded the celebration with an hour of adoration and Praise which was led by “ Shibbs & Vany “

This family gathering was a time of joy wherein all of us renewed our commitment to our lord. Surely this occasion strengthened our faith in a deep way. This time, place and occasion was planned long time back by our Lord, and each one of us was chosen to be there. Looking back at the entire day one can’t just help but marvel at God’s ways and works.
